So sorry you have had this unfortunate and should have been prevented experience at work! No excuse on either the potential carrier's part or the supervisors.
Really hoping it's something else as Jeanne suggested. Really hoping. I have an allergic reaction to anything now COVID is instantly "in my head". Reminds my just how empathic and susceptible and suggestible I can be.
In any case I am holding a vision of a healthy you in my thoughts until you find out the co-workers status and your status.

I happen to be watching WTNH news here this am and heard a story about how a company called Enviral Tech is actually testing Buildings (ducts, surfaces, air filters, etc.) and having big success pin pointing if anyone has the virus in the building and who, which seems like an even better way than just testing everyone since it seems like they can't do that in every place. It looks promising to help in the future in offices, schools, etc. (even though right now I think students should be at home).

Our state has to honor the Hippa Law and not disclose any personal medical information to others as do our hospital. I'm guessing businesses have their own human resource policies
When we had our very first cases of Covid, people went nuts. They told us that the person moved between two public schools but that both had been thoroughly sanitized and both schools closed for two weeks etc all within the known standards at that time.
But people were out for blood. They/or assumed it was a teacher/shared staff and said it was their right to all the details in case they knew them in real life. (Imagine if this was our teacher/staff family member).
They were ready to post signs all over whoever's neighborhood as if they were a predator. That's how righteous we all can get.
It's easy for all of us to get mad and afraid but it causes far greater issues in the end. Our anger grows and the victim's fear of blame and reprisal for being sick is already growing.
It's important to always look at both sides and we dont even know all the facts or know the results of the tests.
I'm sure Jewels will be told if she was exposed thats the only thing we can truly expect. And we love Jewels and hope its a cold or allergies and that she is negative.

I really like your comments about reacting with anger and retribution being counterproductive. Sometimes we are all too ready to lash out when none of us has all the facts. Thank you.
A good portion of maintaining health is in keeping a positive attitude, especially in difficult times.
Wow, I am overwhelmed with everyone's good wishes and cannot thank you enough! I am also impressed with all your knowledge of health care and workplace rules. What amazing people you are!! I will use all your advice. Today I'm calm. The coworker in question (funny that I felt maternal about her from day one) probably doesn't follow news. Just like my high-school class who held a picnic this month since we had to bump the reunion a year. (The host promised masks and distancing, yet photos showed everyone full-face and cozy.) And like the folks at my mom's senior complex who don't distance or use masks ("I don't need one if I'm just coming down to get the mail"). I also learned my mom has secretly gone to multiple unnecessary doctor visits. She follows news but is narcissistic and Munchauseny and loves medical attention. Sigh. :)

The Supreme Court has ruled against a church in Nevada.
The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a request from a church in Nevada to block enforcement of state restrictions on attendance at religious services.
The vote was 5 to 4, with Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. joining the court’s four more liberal members to form a majority.
Calvary Chapel Dayton Valley in Dayton, Nev., argued that the state treated houses of worship less favorably than it did casinos, restaurants and amusement parks. Those businesses have been limited to 50 percent of their fire-code capacities, while houses of worship have been subject to a flat 50-person limit.
This is a straightforward case,” lawyers for the church wrote. “If the governor deems it acceptable for secular assemblies to occur at 50 percent capacity at casinos, restaurants, bars, gyms and fitness facilities, indoor and outdoor theme parks, bowling alleys, water parks, pools, arcades and more, he must apply the same 50 percent capacity rule to constitutionally protected worship services.”
In response, state officials wrote that comparable mass gatherings — which they said included those at concerts, movie theaters, museums and trade schools — were treated “the same as or worse than houses of worship.”
“Public attendance is prohibited for all musical performances, live entertainment, concerts, competitions, sporting events and any events with live performances,” the brief by state officials said.
Although California’s guidelines place restrictions on places of worship, those restrictions appear consistent with the free exercise clause of the First Amendment,” he wrote at the time.

The church and its congregants simply want to be treated equally to comparable secular businesses,” Justice Kavanaugh wrote in a dissenting opinion joined by Justices Thomas and Gorsuch. “California already trusts its residents and any number of businesses to adhere to proper social distancing and hygiene practices.”
