A few days ago the Argentina Central Bank raised benchmark interest rates to 81%?

I can't even wrap my head around that.  Need a loan?  Sign here fro 81%.  It had been at 78% which is also jaw dropping.

Soaring inflation, dwindling foreign currency reserves,  the peso hitting record lows against the dollar are being blamed but so is a climate change issue. Drought. Unprecedented drought has battered  exports of the country's main cash crops soy and corn pummeling farmers.

Climate change is crippling Argentina, a country which is already dealing with major issues including a fragile democracy.

So once again, it seems Maduro wins another election. Many are calling it fraud, and there are huge protests in the streets.

I really hope the people of Venezuela will one day get the fair and decent democracy and leadership that their country so desperately needs.

😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱

Holy effn crap-- I just read the news this morning (Venezuela).  I am appalled and horrified.  Yet I hope this will be the last straw for T and company but how can we extricate the US the  madness?

The US is now an international pariah.

God, I hope so. I’ve never felt like more of a prisoner in my own country than I do right now. May his actions lead to his downfall.

@ana Maybe push for a few puppet masters to be ousted?  We all know the ones.

"A prisoner in my own country"-- yes that is how I feel, or what I feel the near future may bring.  I want to get out.  I've toyed with the idea before but now I *really* want to get out while I can.  And I would-- but I have a 98 year old mother, and autistic sister who need my help and others who would suffer if I left.  I may compromise and leave on a long vacation.  IDK   I know we are supposed to sit tight and stay in the country to "fight with light"...

@ana  re Venezuela:  I believe International War Crimes have been committed. Unfortunately, our Commander in Chief  will never stand trial at the Hague. He’ll most likely be in a nursing home’s dementia unit.
God help the USA and the Iranian people, if T also acts on his recent threat against Iran.

Prayer for international peace is crucial.  Prayer for mitigation of  the horrific domestic and international acts of the current US Administration is also crucial.

@freya  It's not T. I seriously doubt he's running this show. My guess is it's Rubio, who wants to be president one day. Next they'll attack Cuba, and what will be installed in both countries is right wing governments beholden to the U.S. government in power. So, basically, what the U.S. was doing in the first half of the 20th century all over again.

I have EU citizenship through my grandparents and I could leave tomorrow, but I will be damned if I let these degenerates run me out of my own country. I am staying. Maybe I march, maybe I fight (metaphorically) or maybe I just witness, but I am not leaving my own country. Sympathies to all those who don't have the same options, but remember this is your country too. Don't let the clowns that are running it make you forget.

@lynn Rubio is part of it, but the biggest threats are unfortunately from Cali (incorrect reference intentional), and Ohio, and some so-palled Christians.  I typed called but palled showed up.  Maybe that means something.
