Thought I would start a "thankful "thread because it is that time of year in the US (where I live) and honestly, when I focus on what I am thankful /grateful for I  notice my heart becomes more full.

So here goes my list for today at least, the big things and the little things.

-I am grateful I remembered today that I threw away my old wooden carving platter a few months back. I had time to get a new one this morning.  It would have been tricky to try and carve a turkey without a cutting board on Thanksgiving.

-I am thankful that I could finish my Thanksgiving meal prep shopping at Trader Joes.  It was 12:00pm when I arrived and there just happened to be a close parking spot waiting for me.  I had not eaten anything yet today so I was grateful the demo area had basically a mini thanksgiving feast sampling I could taste.  It was super  crowded, but everyone was super friendly and using their best manners while trying to navigate around the crowded aisles, shopping carts and crew members out in force stocking shelves.  Nothing was out of stock.  And I love the "gobble gobble" that comes from the credit card key pad instead of the "beep beep" to tell you to remove your card.  Next month it  is "jingle bells" ( I remember the important things in life ha ha).

-I arrived home to 2 beautiful flower bouquets delivered to my house.  Flowers which were sent by my parents and a friend in honor of my birthday which happens to be on Thanksgiving this year.

- Much of of our state is expecting rain or snow tomorrow.  Arizona is a very dry state so this is a true blessing.  Snow for Thanksgiving at any elevation is a rarity here.

- I get to have both my children under one roof for 4 nights and 5 days. (Who is counting?) That in itself is a wonderful gift.

-I think I have figured out how to cook every dish I need to make for tomorrow with only one oven.  I am starting tonight with pumpkin pie which will make the house smell fantastic.

*(note) -As I was typing up this message the doorbell rang.  It was UPS with a delivery.  OMG!  Lobster pie!!!!!  I am saving that for later this weekend.  I am so thankful that you can ship lobster pie.  I am additionally grateful to the person who created dry ice. and most grateful to the family member who thought I would enjoy a lobster pie celebration sometime this weekend.  I will, I will!  :D.

-And finally for now, I am truly grateful for the beautiful people on this site who challenge me to think differently,  broaden my perspectives, grow, take a leap of faith, trust, believe, hope, love, give, research, rediscover joy , open my heart and breathe.  I love this community and am so glad we are all "neighbors".

* Edited to add

May your Thanksgiving be filled with love, joy, gratitude, hope  and laughter.  May it be a blessing.

Happy Thanksgiving !

@lovendures

Lovendures, I logged on just now with the intention of starting a What I Am Thankful For thread, and saw you'd started one already!  I think I picked up on your thoughts!  Thanks for starting this thread.  Here's what I'm thankful for:

That I am healthy. That I have a secure (union!) job where I make a decent living and where I get to help people. That I have friends, family, and a loving partner. That my years have given me patience and wisdom I never thought possible. That I am financially secure in a way this working class girl didn't think would ever happen. That I have a nice place to live, in a beautiful and exciting city. That I think my life, so far, has meant something. That my parents were brave enough to leave the only home they'd ever known to give me and my brother the hope of a better life.  That my brother and I have become close, and have honored our parents' sacrifices. That after a difficult start, I've found happiness, more often than not.

Finally, I am so, so thankful for Jeanne, and for all of you on this site.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Oh I am so grateful to you @Lovendures for starting this thread and being a guiding light for me, and you @lynn for your steady strength, and @Unk P for your sincerity and honesty.  So many of you come here and just give and give, and help us all stay strong, even as you are going through your own trials.  I want to thank so many of you for giving me strength and for helping others, and for naming what is so hard so we can heal and carry on.

Here's a short amazing video of gratitude: https://vimeo.com/44131171

Gratitude also to @Laura F for your straight forward intelligent, tell-it-like-it-is perspective that keeps me and  this whole community grounded.  @Bluebelle for your kindness, understanding and hope, @lawrence for you humor and clarity about what is true, @coyote for truth, @ Bright Opal, gratitude beyond words, and Baba for so much hope and help to all.  Also @Cindy, @Lenora, @TriciaCT. When I think of someone here I am grateful for, then I realize that I am grateful to everyone of you who come here So thank you all, and have a good day of gratitude.

@jeanne-mayell

As I read your posts, tears came to my eyes.  I am deeply grateful for each of you and for our Jeanne who created this platform and teaches us about loving kindness at every turn.   You each make a difference by sharing on this site and by helping Jeanne create a space for like-minded, open-minded spirits who are navigating this turbulent time together.

Personally, I am grateful for my family who are coming to share this holiday together, all the while I remember Thanksgivings past with our departed parents and siblings and their spouses and their children.  All those spirits are with us still.

I am grateful for the hardships of my life that taught me to persevere, to endure.  Those qualities are still with me as we persevere and endure our nation's nightmare.  I'm grateful for all the people I've loved and who have loved me in return, teaching me that I am worthy of love.  May I have compassion for everyone else in need of that love and compassion.

I say a prayer for every immigrant family detained by ICE, for every child separated from their parents, for every parent grieving the absence of that child.  May God have mercy on their souls.

I say a prayer for the Kurds fighting for their lives after being deserted by our country's support.  I pray for our soldiers who were forced to desert them.

I pray for our country, for saving our democracy and overcoming tyrants.  May our republic stand.

May each of you share your Thanksgiving feast with loved ones and experience a day of abundance and peace in the midst of storms.

Much love to you, Jeanne and boundless thanks for the enrichment you have brought to my life.

Aw. Thank you @jeanne-mayell . I saw this topic started  by our lovely @lovendures, and enjoyed reading. I was a tad reticent to post, as the last few weeks here at home have been more than trying. I'm grateful for my son, who has listened and given me a place to vent. I'm grateful to my dogs who give unconditional love, hugs, and amusement to lift my spirits. I'm grateful for this site and it's posters for their humor, willingness to share-whether it's personal views, predictions, or stories. We're here to help each other and to help each other grow. I'm thankful for past lessons learned and my faith, which help to provide me hope in difficult times and for the future. I'm thankful for the posters here (too many to mention for fear of leaving someone out) who are willing to share the currently bumpy journey with the rest of us.

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate like me. Sending light and love to those who see this day as a painful reminder of the fate of their ancestors when this land became populated by those from abroad.

I’m grateful for all the blessings I’ve received in my life, and the unanswered prayers.  So thankful for my husband, kids and grandkids.    I’ve been blessed with steadfast friends, work, home and love.  And now I’ve been blessed by all of you.  I love reading your posts and it helps to alleviate my worry about the state of our country and world. We can get through the hard times if we focus on the light.  May you be abundantly blessed today and always.  Thank you @jeannemayell and all of you for your insight.

Peace ☮️
