Really interesting about the wheat and dietary recommendations. Thanks to you all, Jeanne, Paul and RunestoneOne. I will look into some of those alternatives.
R1, so nice to see you!
Hi CC21,
lots of good input and for what it’s worth a little more based on my own experience. To build on what R1, Jeanne and Tee have said I have found through blood testing that I have inflammatory response and allergic response to gluten, soy, dairy corn and rice. My reaction to rice is off the charts. In my case I react to the proteins in these foods such as whey protein found in all dairy products. I have since gone on a gut healing protocol forth at started 4 years ago and I am a completely different person. I learned through the research I did about gut flora there are studies showing there is a correlation between unbalanced gut flora and mood and even cognitive function.
Prior to my discovery I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia but most of what I was dealing with was the debilitating effects of inflammation caused by a leaky gut (food particles make their way into the blood stream causing the immune system to attack what it perceives to be a foreign invader) and the leaky gut was caused by the foods I was reacting to. As Tee pointed out it takes time to heal the gut and bring the gut flora back into balance. I found that as I healed my moods leveled out, anxiety went down and the “brain fog”I had been experiencing went away. There are also a number of studies that have shown that children born via Cesearean do not have the advantage of receiving the gut flora from the mother which has shown up as autoimmune issues later in life.
I now adhere to a strict diet of meat, vegetables and low glycemic fruit (sugar is also bad for brain and body) and I rarely eat out any more and no processed foods.
It may be worth the work to convince your daughter to do the recommended blood test as it can help pinpoint what foods might be creating an inflammatory response by increasing antigens which produce the inflammatory response.
I’ve gotten to the point where I can tell when my gut is getting out balance based on how quiet my thoughts are and whether the anxiety has increased.
Hope this is helpful. It can be frustrating trying to figure out what to do and what is actually the root cause. Our food and environment are so messed up it’s difficult know where to turn
Keeping you and your daughter in healing light.
Thanks so much for your reply, Lauri. I appreciate it! Glad to hear that you have found out what causes your problems and have made a recovery. I know there is such a connection between food and mood. So hard to get my younger daughter to eat anything different. Anyway, hoping I can get her to do the bloodwork, too. And by the way, both of my girls were c-sections. The first was an emergency (so she may have gotten some flora as she was stuck in the canal awhile!), but my second was scheduled. So yes, definitely something to that.
Thank you Jeanne, I look into the classes some more but finances are tight right now for my family. I would like to apologize for my anxiety, I tend to over think and worry about everyone I love lives.
Laynara, One more thing. She may have a nutritional deficiency. My friend Judy Tsafrir, MD psychiatrist, has information on her website about common nutritional deficiencies that cause anxiety and depression. Go to her website and click on the Walsh Method.
Thanks, Jeanne! I am guessing you meant me (not Laynara.) I will look into the nutritional deficiencies issue you mentioned. I have read about nutritional supplementation and how that can be helpful. Thanks for this!
I'm the youngest in a old family. My sister-in-law had a stroke from which they had said she couldn't recover. After months in a nursing home, since she had a Living Will, they decided to remove her feeding tube. My brother said he asked her if that was what she wanted and he thought she nodded yes.I was just trying to wrap myself around her starving to death. I guess she was too, because before they removed the tube, she died. I believe in reincarnation so I think she is better off, but it seems to me, she was more aware than they thought.
Hello Everyone,
I wanted to thank you for your words of courage & support. A few weeks ago I expressed my fear of sending my daughter on a class trip to Alexandria & DC. I did allow her to go & she had a wonderful time - no incidents.
Many of you expressed the importance of affirming goodness & not allowing fear to manipulate my life. You also urged me to connect with my own gut. You were right. It rang true when so many of you responded.
Sometimes in the world’s current environment it’s so easy to absorb the pain, chaos, and fear - I am not always able to determine what is mine personally, & what I am absorbing from others. All of you gave me a sound re-connection to my values- which is to move forward & trust goodness to prevail while remaining aware of circumstances- but not paralyzed by fear. The last thing I wanted to do was limit my daughter because I was locked in fear.
So thank you for your support. All turned out well for us :)
I am continuing to pray & meditate on all turning out well for all of us - collectively.
I would like to take a moment and say thank you all on this group for being there for one another, and I want to send my love and protection to you all as we go through these changes and all become stronger and wiser from it all. Stay positive !
Please keep my 4 month old in your thoughts he is going in for a CAT scan on Monday because his forehead is protruding outwards and they are checking to make sure nothing is going on. He is gonna be one cranky baby because he isn't allowed to eat or nap cause they don't want to put him under because they are afraid he wouldn't wake up.
Certainly will. Sending you both love & light.
Laynara will be praying for your little one??
I’m praying fpr your child.
Thinking about you, Laynara, and your baby. Sending you love, and protection (and peace of mind for Mama). ❤️
sending prayers and keeping the baby in God's light
Thank you everyone, I am keeping positive about it not just for me as a mom but for him cause he cried when I'm down or upset. He is a very smart little boy.
