@tgraf66 I want the name of that bakery. I made up a big batch of GF sugar cookie refrigerator dough for the holidays, and almost every night, I bake a few, slather some icing and add sprinkles.
I'll bring some up to the roof top tonight. And warm us up (it is going to be cold up there tonight), with not hot chocolate. It's hot milk, with vanilla, fresh nutmeg, cinnamon, and a dash of maple syrup. So yum. But if you order hot chocolate, I will make you some with whipped cream on top. I got us a fireplace for the rooftop so we will all be cozy up there.
Everyone is so wired on GF these days ... it's def a big trend down in Taos, where there is a very similar bakery to yours there.
They produce the most marvelous mouth watering cookies, and... they are $6.50 each. ?
@stargazer $6.50 per cookie? At that price, I will make continue to make my own. But the high cost is understandable since good quality GF flour that tastes like regular flour, costs three times regular flour.

I drink a cup of hot milk every night while I read this forum. It very much helps me get sleepy. I never thought to add anything. I may try adding ginger as it was suggested to me recently. :)
Yes, so much that is good and/or organic is so over-priced now... those cookies that I mentioned are a little bigger tho, but it's trend-gouging even so.
Better to make/grow your own, and save the $$ to take a future trip to the South of France ?
*(I like that big stone fireplace that you got for the rooftop!)*
There is a good GF mix that I've found, Simple Mills. They have mixes for waffles/pancakes, cakes/muffins, breads and brownies. So far I've made waffles, pancakes, and the chocolate cake. The ingredients for the pancake mix lists almond flour, arrowroot, organic coconut sugar, organic coconut flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and sea salt. You're supposed to add water or milk and an egg, but I'm sure an egg substitute would work. The mix isn't that big -- 10.7 oz for the pancake mix -- and it's pricey (I paid $6.50 on sale). But $6.50 for 12 muffins is a lot better than $6.50 for one treat! SM also offers pre-made cookies, but I didn't like them. I'll stick with Tate's.
@dannyboy might I also add Avatar the Last Airbender to the list (the cartoon not the movie). I watched this 14 years ago on Nickelodeon and it’s now streaming on Netflix. I loved it 14 years ago and appreciate it even more now. It’s a humbling story about friendship, respect for nature and the beauty of all its elements, philosophical explorations and fantastic character development. I know it’s a cartoon but if you’re into fantasy, martial arts and a magical setting this is not to be missed. There’s certainly aspects of it that reminds me of the turbulence we’re going through as a collective right now.
share the love and light

The bakery is Dan Good Cookies in Livermore, CA. They're not cheap, but they're also not completely outrageous at about $11/dozen plus shipping. They usually only have two GF & V varieties at any given time, and they rotate the flavors throughout the year. Right now they have both chocolate chip and peanut butter flavors in the GF & V style. You can order them on their website at https://www.dangoodcookies.com . They have several regular flavors as well, so if you order, be sure to look for the GF & V notation on the drop-down order form. They have a bunch of other baked sweets as well, but they only ship the cookies, lemon bars (not GF!), and cornbread.
(disclaimer: I have no financial interest in this company, although if I keep ordering cookies from them, I might as well!)
Today was the first time since Covid began that I had to actually walk inside a bank building and do business. Normally ATM outdoor would be fine.
It was so odd to walk up to the teller window wearing a mask. Odd as well to turn around when finished to see a line of masked individuals inside the bank. I never thought wearing a mask in a bank would be considered ...normal and well, mandatory.
So my new favorite thing right now is watching Leslie Jones watch MSNBC and do Twitter videos while watching. The language can be strong on some, but I have laughed and laughed and laughed. For those of you who find the news a drag, but watch it anyway- this is a soothing balm of fun. She is hilarious. ?
just saw this downstairs in the Astrology thread, so be sure to go outside and enjoy it, if you can! (thanks for the heads up, @ana):
The Geminid meteor shower peaks tonight (Dec 13) and tomorrow night (Dec 14) and is best seen about 2 AM. The meteors will appear to emanate from the constellation Gemini (hence the name!).
Can anyone tell us what this could signify in astrological terms?
Also, has anyone heard from @polarberry ? She hasn't posted in a long time. "Paging Polarberry, please report to the lounge"
@honeybee, I never knew Leslie Jones did those Twitter videos until Nicolle Wallace interviewed her last week on Deadline: White House. Nicolle loves her and featured a few of Jones' MSNBC-watching twitter rants. Some really funny stuff.
@deetoo That is where I first heard about them was when she was on her show and Claire showed up with her mug. ? I guess we need to find humor where we can. She just cracks me up with her observations of the backgrounds and clothing. Soooooo funny. Nikkkkaaaay!!! ?
@unk-p Ooh, I just went outside and saw a Geminid meteorite!
The skies aren't very dark where I live and it isn't peak time yet, but I saw one! Was about 30 degrees above the eastern horizon at 10:45 Eastern time. It will be directly overhead about 2 AM but I'll be asleep then. My kid and his buddies drove out to the country with a telescope and digital camera so they should get some good photos, we hope. The skies are clear and it's a new moon: optimal conditions.
