Chicken story

My mom absent mindedly seved me a chicken breast with such force it went careening off the plate and slid onto my lap.

When  I reminded my mom of this she said, "I was very busy when you all were kids."

"Mom," I said, "That was last year!"

Hahahahaha!  As both a meat flyer into another's lap and she  who frequently is out of space and time i can so relate to your mom.  But also to you!

So loving your sharing of this!

I've been quiet for the last few days - I've been working from home again and have been trying to keep myself productive and focused - most days that happens but tomorrow my wife begins another teach from home so I know my days of quiet end today when I "clock out" :

Here is what my wife and I have binged over the pandemic.  Each one has been unique and wonderful.  If anyone ends up taking me up on my suggestion to watch one of these shows let me know how you liked it!  And we'll take YOUR suggestions to heart as well (but we're big story consumers so we may have seen your rec already!)

Chuck - The only one we actually HAD seen before - so funny.

Locke and Key - a Netflix original -- spooky but fun!

The Handmaids Tale - Okay, only I watched this one (wife refused) and I honestly couldn't look away but left every episode with a refined sense of hopelessness

Supernatural - We like our sci-fi/fantasy around here and with 15 seasons to binge, this took us a good chunk of time.  If you can get past the first two seasons, the writers realized they had a larger mythology to play with you get amazing season long serial stories and some of the best comedic moments interspersed within.  PUDDING!

Warehouse 13 - This is just candy.  Absolutely delightful candy.

The Umbrella Academy - based on the comics and superbly acted and written!

Jane the Virgin - This was ridiculous fun and we didn't realize how much we were loving it until it was over.

Gilmore Girls - How this never entered my life in real time I'll never know.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - Because, Gilmore Girls.  Couldn't.  Stop.  Laughing.

Star Trek Discovery - Incredibly fun - waiting for the new season to fully drop before watching it.

Little Voice - Music by Sara Barellis and writing by JJ Abrams?  Yes please!

Ted Lasso - This show was simply ridiculous and exactly what we needed in September.

Upcoming: Stranger Things (I've seen them, wife refused - I'm working on her), Upload, and a Modern Family re-watch.

Your suggestions?

@dannyboy

I really enjoyed Sherlock Holmes with Cummberbatch and Freemon.  They’re such a dynamic, funny and witty duo.

Broen (The bridge, the Danish version) best Crime series ever.  I wish there were more.  Superb acting and character development with a clever and suspenseful plot.

True Detective (Season 1 and 2)

it’s all about the acting and intense storyline.

Mindhunter

so intriguing and different perspective on a crime series

Dark (but I only recommend season 1 and 2). The intricate story was fabulously created In season 1 and then season 2 was ok but it went downhill season 3.

Game of thrones

one of the best fantasy show aside from Lord of the Rings.  A little disappointing ending since the final books are not yet out but it’s still a fantastic show that will take you into a incredible fantasy world.

Westworld (season 1 and 2)

season 1 is superb and I enjoy the world building around AI’s.  Season 2 is good but I didn’t connect with season 3 too much.

The Mandalorian

if you’re into Star Wars it’s fun and entertaining

The wire

a different spin on a cop show.  And it’s a classic.

I think that should keep you going for a while.  Have fun ?

@share I left Game of Thrones off my list because honestly, we were the last people on the planet to not have watched it!  :-)

Dark and Westworld sound right up our alley.  Right after we binge all of season 2 of Mandalorian Much thanks!

@lowtide I just finished the undoing.  I really enjoyed the storyline but it’s difficult for me to get passed the plastic surgery/Botox. I feel awful for saying that, sorry.

@dannyboy

My go to is any show that is cake related, and I have watched a whole lot of RuPaul's drag race during this pandemic. :)

There is a great show called Dead Like Me that is really clever and entertaining. Used to be on Comet channel.

I also really liked The Good Place with Ted Danson and Kristin Bell.

You all watch some really good ones-also watched Mindhunters and Dead Like Me is and old favorite.   I also tried Virgin River (I had read some of the books) and catching up on past seasons of Blue Bloods and Chicago Fire. Don't laugh but I also watched all seasons of Little House On The Prairie, Dr Quinn Medicine Woman and The Waltons. It has been literally years since I saw them and I though I remembered them but turns out not that many. My family is also dedicated to all food shows (especially Great British Baking show and Sugar Rush) and we've watched way too many food competitions these last few months. For my mother, I'm going to get a subscription to PBS living so she can see some of the Cook's country and America's test kitchen. On my own, I've been getting into A Discovery of Witches, The Witcher and some Korean dramas. I've also been reading alot. I just recently finished the reading challenge on GoodReads for 2020 (over 160 books this year)-due to many sleepless nights ? .

@ghandigirl The Good Place was put on this earth solely to give us something to binge and ponder during the pandemic :-)  Granted, I watched it prior to the pandemic, but boy does that show make you think when you're trapped in your house with nowhere to go.

Nailed it.  I have seen them all but I need to re-watch Nailed it.

@liln22 I missed this before!  My wife watched Virgin River - and has seen all the Dr. Quinns.  My Christmas Gift to her a few years back (Before we had enough internet bandwidth to cancel cable and stream) was the Dr. Quinn boxed set.  On nights when I stay up and she goes to bed I'm downstairs either reading or playing some video games, and she's upstairs watching those DVDs on endless loop.
