@unk-p Welcome anytime !!! I pray it helps... that itchiness can drive ya insane and then if you scratch? It's painful and HURTS!!! I have tried a lot and spent a lot of time and money trying to find what works for me and each person is unique but I find the organic and natural stuff works a lot better than those expensive prescription shampoos etc. I hope it helps your loved ones too!

Last night a raccoon broke into the rooftop lounge, drank $250 worth of booze and passed out on the bathroom floor. You don't believe me?  Well okay, but it happened for real in a Virginia ABC liquor store.

Every outlet in the world has covered it.  BBC, NYTimes, Jerusalem Post, Snopes, even weekend update of Saturday Night Live covered it, complete with Sarah Sherman playing the raccoon. There is even an AI video of it. Bars have now named new cocktails after him.

He is the world's most famous raccoon now.

@jeanne-mayell   poor hapless raccoon; his short legs made it difficult for him “to pray to the porcelain god.”

I have always loved raccoons. https://forfoxsakewildlife.com/2018/12/18/the-sensitivity-of-raccoons/

He might need to get to AA.  Or get a distant reiki treatment.  He may be sensing humans are acting more nutty than usual.

@anya thank you for sharing that raccoon article. I love raccoons and have many fond memories of them.  we used to have a compost bin and every night in the summer an entire family would go traipsing  past our back door to the compost bin by the side of the house for their evening feast.

One time raccoons invaded the second floor of our barn, garage, looking for goodies, and when I walked into the barn, they skedaddled just like any bunch of kids— get the hell out of there.  I never forgot those guys, how human they were.

But the story you linked of the sobbing sibling trying to save her brother is heartbreaking.

But if it helps others to learn how animals are much closer to us than we have been taught to believe, then it will serve a good purpose.

@jeanne-mayell

We once had a family of raccoons nesting in our attic.   The dog would hear them and run around barking at the ceiling.  We could hear them running around, too.

I researched about raccoons to learn when the babies would be mature enough to leave the nest and also how to get rid of them.  I found that apparently raccoons are not fans of loud rock n roll!    So when the time came that I was sure the babies would be old enough to leave, I got a couple of radios, placed them near the ceiling where the nest was,  and turned them on full volume to a heavy metal station just before I left for work. When I returned I turned off the radios and blocked what I believed was the entry point for the raccoons. No more scratching and squeaking and barking dog after that!
