My mother is calling members of congress today to see if she can drudge up support to confirm me as Surgeon General today.  My qualifications you ask?  I once had surgery and I eat General Mills cereals.

I want to be part of the cabinet. I prefer to be head of the CIA.  My qualifications are that I am curious, value intelligence, and have a vast hope that this country becomes more secure, harmonious, and prosperous.

We have a number of Libras here, including myself.  We should all get jobs in the Department of State.  😎

Do you know it?  I didn't until I heard it as background music for a social media post on upcoming protest actions across the country. 

OMG!!!

It was written in the 30's by Florence Reese, the wife of a coal miner during the violent Kentucky coal mine worker/operator clashes in the 30's. Pete Seeger recorded it in 1941 and it was a protest song in the 60's.

THIS rendition by Natalie Merchant is incredible and haunting.  Take a listen.
