@jeanne-mayell

My mother used to wake me up in the morning singing sweet songs. 🎶  She was a very loving soul. I miss her. Happy Mother's Day!

@dannyboy, @earthangel @cc21 @teriz, @Lawrence - It is so wonderful to read these bits of you and your mothers.  My vision of each of you is like a rich tapestry that now has some new colors.

One of my mom's favorite mottos is:  "This is an opportunity to make lemonade out of lemons".

My mom has made a whole bunch of lemonade from the lemons which life has thrown at her and she is brilliant at creating something new and wonderful from their acidic nature.  I have tried to incorporate this motto into my being. Many "Opportunities" in life may be hard to recognize as they first appear so bitter to us, but lemons add so much flavor to life if we are open to embracing their tartness.  And as far as a food, lemons could be their own food group in my home I use them so often.

What is avocado toast without a bit of lemon? It would be boring! BORING I tell you.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and all who have mothered others over the years.

My first thoughts of mom are the sound of the piano playing thru the house. Still love the sound of the instrument to this day.

And second, her curler bucket. All the kids in my second grade class made one for their mom's using bleach bottles with the tops cut off, cut-outs from magazines, handwritten notes in crayon, and a handle of vinyl covered laundry line. She stopped using curlers back in the 70s I guess it was, when curling irons became a thing again. But that bucket-often in later decades with no curlers in it, still resided in her bathroom closet through this century.

Y'all know my mind doesn't work like the average brain. LOL I was reading the article that was posted here about how the solar storms could cause major havoc here on Earth (along with articles about Starlink disruptions), yet in my mind I felt I missed out by not seeing the northern lights here on the coast. I laid in the chaise in my backyard with a blanket last night for some time, hoping for an encore, to no avail. Even with the knowledge beforehand that such storms could be disruptive (it even had my GPS failing a few times the other day), I couldn't help but feel that those who got to observe were being wrapped in a blanket of peace and love, and I missed out. Maybe it was just the fact that so many in the world took the time to stop, look up and appreciate it all at that same time while putting down any stress, hate, or other negativity, that I got that feeling. It was similar to the feeling I got when We Are The World played on the radio all around the world at the same time. I recall stopping in my living room and just feeling joy and peace-tho back then I didn't know why.

Just a little James Taylor for the mood...

@kathleen, @journeywithme2, @tybin, Yes, I've seen where he's noted he's on the spectrum. I had a nephew with Aspergers, so I'm familiar. I believe he's got psychological comorbidities as well.

@Jeanne-Mayell. I had three mothers and none of them were fit for that role. Instead, I received wonderful god mother who was just amazing. She passed away during Covid but it is she who I think of on this day. Sometimes the Universe provides a substitute that knows your soul in a way that others can’t

As far as first memory of her, She had heard the neighborhood gossip of the new biracial toddler and came down to open her heart and home. This was an upper middle class community and her inclusion of all the mixed kids of the neighborhood was always such a boost for one’s sense of self.
