@dannyboy, sending light and love. As I thought of you this morning, my son's friend Zach came to mind. You had noted that a successful transplant wouldn't guarantee a long life span, however, that's not always true. Zach was 2 when he got his transplant. He was an enigma in that he had reactions to the anti-rejection medications and had to be taken off of them. He's spent his life without them, which has always perplexed the doctors. He's now in his early 30's and doing fine. Don't set limitations!

I have a larger update but I have to type it in a keyboard instead of my phone but I’m moving forward to the next stage of this process.  More tonight!  Thank you all so much for the light and love!

After a grueling day the hospital, we're now checked into the on-campus housing and I can tell you the full story.

When I first jumped onto this path about a month ago, I asked @jeanne-mayell for her read on things - which I know is not something she likes to do (health realted inquiries) but she brought it to a small group of you here to get a better read on and we were all left with the idea that this would happen.  And today, going in I felt all your prayers and energy keeping me calm for a TWO HOUR MRI.  A funny note - everything was fine until they told me to breathe normally for the next MRI test of about 5 minutes and at that point I couldn't tell you want normal breathing was, which meant they had to restart that test a bunch of times.  Lord the pressure!

At the consult with the transplant team I was told I'm a match and everything appeared to be good but - they need to run one more test AND I have to lose between 30-50 pounds over the next few months.  (THis is completely doable - pre-pandemic I was losing about 10-15 pounds a month doing Keto and the weight they want me at is the weight I was almost at.  Bottom line, I've already lost 36 this summer)

Reads that came in from several of you that are "Hits" in this:

  • Well, this seems to connect to my feeling that he needs to get his body in top shape.  Mind set like training for the Olympics, or preparing for oral arguments at the Supreme Court.  Set the goal and focus on it. (@lovendures)
  • about the weight range…it can’t simply be on the border of range.
He really needs to be the healthiest he can be. If he is to do this it needs to be a priority.
  • got the sense that now it was "show time" or "Time to go to boot camp" to tone up and use all the skills of soul and in this case his actual body - it's a hard brief - and it brings in all his own fears about mortality and about his own time on this earth, our own mortality. (Andrew)
  • They want you to be in better physical shape. (Jeanne)
  • The recovery is grueling. I think it will take a full year to fully recover, not the six weeks they say in the literature. You will have to be careful what you ingests for at least a year, to not ingest anything that taxes the liver, but also this procedure impacts every organ system in your body, not just your liver (Also Jeanne)

You can see where these are going.  This was the exact conversation we had today.

So - my BMI was below their ceiling.  They want me to get closer to the floor.  We have time to get there.  I know HOW to get there (and have already started doing it.). This in fact give sme more of a motivation to get there because I'm no longer just doing this for me.

Factor this into what all of you have said in this thread and I think we're headed toward a longer term prediction on this but given how spot on eveyone was (including my own mini reads) about what we'd need to do - I felt confident tonight when talking to K and assuring him that I'd get us there, that I will - in fact - get us there.

So thank you all.  For your love.  For your light.  For your guidance.

I will - in fact - get us there.

@dannyboy

Wow!

Thank you for the update.

Funny about the MRI pressure.  I can imagine feeling the same way!! hahaha

When is your next check-in?

I have a feeling you will inspire many of us here to get in better shape along with you.  (You know, if Dannyboy can we can too!!!)  You are already inspiring all of us with your dedication to this lifesaving mission.

❤️
