I only learned of Walter Mercado after his death last year. Such an exotic and colorful personality, he can only remind me of a mix of Liberace and Charo but i know in reality he was so very much more.
I will share a link to go with your wonderful post about him.

Santanahhh ~
Bella ..... & Europa (!!!)
Two of the very most amazing instrumental masterpieces from Carlos Santana.... guaranteed to send you into the bliss dimensions ....
@stargazer Santana "Bella" for you: https://youtu.be/6xxr3-CBams
and also "Europa" https://youtu.be/Ot6pSrKT1oc
and for @deetoo "Everybody's Everything" https://youtu.be/4DBy3If7_ik
(i wore out Abraxas, too. Then i hung the cover on the wall, because, Art!)
and for @Unk-p , Santana "Yo Me Lo Merezco" https://youtu.be/mbckI715aKY
So one time i was eating lunch on Haight St., on the sidewalk at the place that had 99 cent beers and burritos, and Carlos walked right by me. He is quite fancy, and i dropped my burrito
Ok, ALL is forgiven Unk! Thank you from the top of my ?
There was a time when Carlos wasn't so fancy (at the Fillmore West in SF when he had waist-length hair and used to have those 99¢ burritos on Haight St. too).... but he is still rockin' and still plugged into the Divine even though his millions are probably weighing him down a bit.
You are an Angel Unk, and we love you!!
One of my brushes with fame was sharing an elevator with Carlos Santana at the Ritz Hotel in NoLa during JazzFest in 2014.
I didn't feel it was appropriate to speak (unusual for me), so I didn't, but I can say he has a very positive energy around him.
Hey .. you shoulda said something! It's not everyday that we encounter the likes of Carlos (in an elevator no less ;)
He is a Moon Child remember, and just had a b'day recently (70-something).... he probably has mellowed in his Golden years and would have given you a big hug!
(I would've hugged him first in gratitude for all the years he's been creating inspiring genius music, don't care who it would embarass, you know?)
@unk-p, Aww ... God bless you for that! I'd never seen a raw, live performance of "Everybody's Everything," sans horns -- that was really great!
Here's a cover of that same song, performed by Sheila E, Steve Winwood and Orianthi at the Kennedy Center in 2013, honoring Santana. I got a little teary when I saw it -- made me think of a saner, happier time in this country. But then I clearly heard the message, you've been there once, you'll be there again. Yes!
In the meantime, my friends, if you're feeling anxious, angry, depressed, whatever -- bang on those drums or congas or bongos or metal trash can or whatever you have on hand -- and channel your inner Sheila E!

and @unk-p
I never miss the Kennedy center honors (hope one happens somehow this year) because they are always filled with these kind of moments that make you go ..."aww" and "wow". You see the honorees emotions and the artists honoring them go full out for them. It's always the best show every December on TV. The best years of the Kennedy Center honors was when we had a REAL POTUS: President Obama. They were incredible! rock on! ?☮️ ?
Here are a couple of timeless classics that Spirit keeps putting in my rattled little head ... for all of you Scorpios from our eternal soul bard Neil (a double Scorpio), who is no stranger to deep trans-formation ?
Neil Young ~ ' WILL TO LOVE '
and....
(from the album 'Faded Glory')
Neil Young ~ ' Mother Earth (Natural Anthem) '
(Unk ... ??? ?)
