Hurricane Laura has just strengthened to a Cat. 4.
This is a monster of a storm and about to hit on the TX/LA border.
Laura's maximum sustained winds jumped from 75 mph to 140 mph in the 24 hours ending 1 p.m. CDT Wednesday. That increase in maximum sustained winds easily meets the definition of rapid intensification in a hurricane.
Catastrophic storm surge and damaging winds will affect areas near where Laura makes landfall.
May our Gulf Coast friends stay safe and protected during the storm and in its aftermath. We will keep you in prayers and light during our Circle of Light meditation today.
Al Roker said the storm surge in some areas will be unsurvivable. It will be happening at night so nobody will see it coming either. The window to evacuate is nearly over.
@lovendures and Laura is approaching Cat 5 status with winds of 155 mph CAt 5 status is 157 - prayers for all in the path of this storm and surge.
The Weather Channel is saying it might hit a cat 5 right before landfall. It keeps intensifying and is at 150 sustained winds. ( Can you imagine?)
Storm surge now expected to go 40 miles inland. It was expected to be 30 miles a few hours ago. It is also a large storm.
Looks like we posted at the same time, but your winds are more unto date.
I hope everyone is watching this storm because it will continue to be an issue for many states around the nation. Even New England has been mentioned.
So yesterday, I got an alert on my phone about how tropical storm Josephine is forming in the Atlantic. It gave me a little jolt, which I have learned could be a little intuitive prompt to look into things further. It made me remember our thread here, so I decided to throw some cards and what I received was very similar to what I threw over a week ago, which I thought was really interesting.
To recap, for my first throw, I got The Magus and wrote down that the storm may be "transformative", perhaps have a message for us and be a catalyst for healing.
Then yesterday, I threw cards and got Prince of Cups and also Aeon. Really weird cards (to me) to get for a storm. My interpretation based on the text (which I often look up to see what resonates) was that the storm may be a time of judgement; regeneration; transformation, love and change. Again, not sure how that applies to a storm - though perhaps it indicates that *when* the storm hits it may do physical damage, or perhaps usher in the beginning of a period of more intense change as the election approaches?
Just following up to the cards some of us pulled last week on these storms. It seems like Josephine will indeed be "transformative" in destructive ways; and the Prince of Cups and Aeon interpretations I made earlier may be more accurate, with the storm ushering in more intense (climate) change and societal changes as the election approaches.
Also, @coyote interpreted:
"I interpret the Prince of Cups as indicating lack of reliability, or doesn't follow through. The fact that Josephine will fizzle out without making landfall would explain that card. As for the Aeon, that could be a warning that this storm marks the beginning of a new violent phase in the hurricane season, and that we better pay attention to Josephine even if it doesn't hit land? This would especially be the case if Josephine strengthens into at least a category 3 hurricane."
As you note, Omar won’t make landfall. Nana is headed toward Central America. Dodged the bullet on those two.
I went ahead and threw some more cards (Thoth Deck) on the upcoming storm names. I skipped Nana and Omar since we already know they're not impacting the US. I also tried to meditate on each storm just to see if I could visualize anything. I'm still pretty new at this, so any thoughts or feedback is always helpful to me.
Paulette: While I was trying to visualize, I got a visual of a big, wide, and strong storm. I couldn't tell where it was, just that it was pretty massive looking. I pulled the Ace of Wands card, this card says powerful to me, lots of electricity and strength.
Rene: Visually, I got a much smaller picture, so much smaller I'm wondering if this one even becomes an actual hurricane. I did see an eye, so maybe just smaller width wise. But I got the 2 of Cups, Love for this storm. Based on all this, I don't think this will be a major storm.
Sally: Visually I didn't really get anything for this storm. The card I pulled was 7 of Swords, Futility. To me, it visually looks like the large sword is moving against the other storms, or against the normal flow. I don't believe this will be a full-blown storm, possibly just a tropical storm or a hurricane that doesn't impact land.
Teddy: Visually I saw a storm in the Gulf of Mexico, it was a fair size, heading towards the FL panhandle. Possibly developed off the coast of either Central or South America. The card I pulled was the Prince of Swords, I read it as disorganized chaos. I'm hoping the storm itself is disorganized and chaotic, but I got the feeling it was the people on the land that were the chaotic ones. As always, I hope I'm wrong on this one. But it feels like a serious storm.
