This? Was a Presidential speech "

Biden says this “grim season of division” is going to give way to a year of “light and unity.”

“This is a great country. We are a good people. This is the United States of America.”

He says a sense of history “can help arm us against despair” and invokes the struggles of past generations in a call for Americans to meet the crisis.

The motivating force behind change, he says, is “love.”

“Sounds corny but it was love, plain and simple. Love of country. Love of each other.”

The country is not perfect he says but “we’ve always sought to form a more perfect union.”

“Let’s be thankful for democracy itself,” he says. He mentions the record turnout in the middle of a pandemic. “Simply extraordinary.”

“Our democracy was tested this year, and what we learned is this. The people of America are up to the task.”

That’s quite a counterpoint to the speech Trump just gave." The Guardian US

I watched the speech.. it was a truly heartfelt moment and so nice to have an adult speaking from his heart.

I watched, too. I think the whole country needs to sit down and have a good cry.

The Biden family has announced today, that in addition to their two rescue dogs, there will also be a cat residing in the White House!  This is great news, because for four years, there has been a massive rodent infestation at the WH.

@unk-p I saw that too! I was excited to see such a pet presence in the white house again. It just makes it more relatable to people. I have always been an avid human interest story kind of person. I read too today after I saw that there had a been a lot more cats in the white house than I thought including another cat named Malarky (Amy Carter's cat Misty Malarky). It was kind of fun just reading about the history of pets in the white house. I read that Abraham Lincoln had two cats that he went too when he needed comfort and stress relief. It also said that the first Siamese cat in the US was a pet in the white house. Anyway, I have been craving something happy in the news lately. I showed my mom that news story as soon as I saw it. She was tickled over it and I told her how all down twitter people were sharing photos of their cats giving their presidential pet approval.

Good news, Biden has proposed an extension to the New Start nuclear agreement by 5 years, it was due to end on the 5th Feb, hopefully nuclear weapons won’t be used and be removed all together one day
