All eyes are on these two races to win the Senate, and all hands must be on deck to help win this race - with donations, writing postcards, making phone calls and helping people to get to the polls.  I'm moving our GA Senate race posts to this thread to focus on the race.

@journeywithme2

Do you think that people like Stacy Abrams can overcome the Republicans' voter suppression again and help the Democrats retake the Senate on January 5, 2021?  I know what Republicans will do.  They will flood the airways on why they need the Republicans to save the country from "Socialist Biden."  They will also seek to make voting more difficult to depress turnout in Democratic areas like Atlanta.

But you know your neighbors best.  If it becomes clear after all the recounts and court challenges the Trump can't steal the election (which is why I am hoping the Supreme Court will weigh in soon), will his followers sit at home and sulk?  Or will they show up in droves at the voting booths?  If Trump gets angry at McConnell and criticizes him on Twitter, will it be enough to discourage his followers from coming out?

I am so afraid that if McConnell keeps control of the Senate, we won't be able to get anything done.  It will be the same circumstances that we have experienced the last two years, with Pelosi passing bills in the House and then they all stall in the Senate as McConnell revels in being the "Grim Reaper" over imaginary outrage of "fiscal responsibility" and "national debt" while the country continues to suffer.  As unfair as it seems, the country and the rest of the world is dependent on Georgia to take control and do the right thing, especially with the Republicans' false narrative about how this election has been a referendum on "socialism" because the Democrats lost a few seats. (while conveniently ignoring Biden's win).

@allyn. I belong to a group of "active Democrats" We are pulling out all the stops... calls, postcards and everything we can do to get the vote out there. There are MORE of us that need health care and covid-19 relief and recovery support than there are of them. Stacey Abrams, Tyler Perry, Keisha Lance Bottoms and so many more are on the Biden/Harris ticket and health care and more. Yes.. we HAVE to flip Georgia for Biden/Harris to accomplish anything ~ otherwise? the turtle-faced turd will block EVERYTHING they try to do to help the American people - just as he did with Obama - just as he has during Trump's presidency.. and make no mistake.. he doesn't love Trump..he loves the power that the Republicans had and gained through Trumps' mesmerizing and supreme shill selling thoughts and ideas that mirrored the privileged white male authority in America and what they wanted to hear. Many poor and blue collar whites loved that Trump hated who they hated and sucked that Kool-Aid and rhetoric down and are still mesmerize by it. Women and people of color are NOT stealing anything from them... they are still falling for the lies that they are. The 1% make them true believers with support from the evangelicals to keep them there ...working on the hamster wheels making them richer and holding down any threats from women or POC. It's been this way for a looonnggg time.. and it is the culmination of the dumbing down of America and the death of common sense. I have said it before and I will say it again Rockerfeller and his ilk? "I don't want at nation of thinkers I want a nation of workers." It's like the CEO /owner that calls in one of his blue collar workers and says " I'll giving you a bonus of $1000.00 for all your hard work this year... while he himself gets a bonus of $100,000.00. Here in Georgia , at at will employment state? many got around  not having to provide healthcare or 401K or other benefits besides low wages by scheduling for 32 hours a week or less thus calling employee part-time and not having to provide opportunities for these things that larger employers do. I find it ironic that even as our Covid-19 rates are rising high again ( and many got from the multiple superspreader events of Trumps political rallies here) the MAGA are so angry and don't even care that Trump failed the country miserably as did the Kemp,Purdue and Loeffler and Collins - still trying to take away ACA and letting pre-existing conditions, many now resulting from Covid-19 during a Pandemic!!! Many of these very same people? are uninsured!!!!!  I don't think I have ever despised anyone as much as I despise Mitch McConnell. Trump is bad? but his sycophants? McConnell, Barr, Pompeo, Miller and the lot are so totally despicable. I pray for all of those who have been blinded to WAKE UP! please let them wake up. I used to wonder how Hitler came to power.. I do not wonder that anymore. I truly truly pray all Lightworkers call down the angels and spirits of our forefathers and Creator to usher in the people to turn this country around from the Hell that has been upon us for too long now. I want us to truly be the country where "The Truth matters here"

@jeanne-mayell Our Indivisible group ordered mailing addresses from a MA affiliate of the New Georgia Project. Batches of 250. I’m not sure which MA affiliate.

Is continuing their Adopt-a-State GOTV program for the GA runoff. Phone banking and postcard writing. You can also still contribute $$ to their Get Mitch or Die Trying fund to support the Dem candidates for those Senate seats.

I can't reiterate enough that if we lose either runoff, Biden et al will not be able to get anything big done. No Green New Deal, no free community college tuition, no expanding SCOTUS....

Everyone's tired, but we just gotta push on a couple more months.

Yes, thanks for posting this. I have 60 postcards to write in the next few weeks. There are always moments sitting in front of the tv that I can just sit there and write to Georgia democrats to help them get to the polls. The GA postcard-writing group give us exact wording for them that helps them negotiate a system that is deliberating trying to foil them from voting.

Strangers are willing to read your postcards when they are entirely hand-written. That's why we don't send pre-printed postcards.  Earlier this year, the GA NAACP was running the postcard-writing campaign and it was an honor to be one of their volunteers.

I was born in Georgia, and owe much to a woman of color who took care of me and kept my mother calm during my early years. Rosalie Johnson had a giant framed poster of Martin Luther King over her bed.  She was born around 1910, never knew her birthday, was never taught to read or write, was likely the grandchild or great grandchild of a slave, and was the wisest person our family ever knew.  She saved us. She saved me.

I hope others here will write postcards or help win the GA Senate for the dems, for us all, for people of color.

@jeanne-mayell your love for Rosalie is strong and beautiful.  We may never know the impact we have on someone's life and she certainly had a huge one on yours.

I feel the Georgia elections are very important.

I also feel Biden will be searching for a possible current  Republican senator to fill a cabinet position.  One he has developed a good relationship with but who also comes from a state with a Democratic Governor whose state law allows for a senator replacement  appointment to be at the discretion  of the Governor and not tied to the  party of the previous senator.  Every state has different regulations.  Mine requires the vacancy be filled with someone from the same party as the out going senator.  Others don't .

I believe ( though I might be wrong) that PA allows the Gov. to appointment a replacement  at their choosing until the next general election occurs.

I wonder what Biden thinks of Sen. Toomey?

@journeywithme2

Thank you for being on the front lines and helping people get their voices heard.

I guess I am anxious.  I don't want McConnell to continue to block laws just to prove he can.  If the Supreme Court overturns Obamacare next year (I don't think they will, but you never know), then Biden and the Democrats will scramble to enact laws to save it, and then McConnell will stop it in the Senate.  And then millions will lose coverage.

Right now is a classic example.  McConnell is blocking relief for Covid-19.  He claims the bill is too expensive and it has "poison pills" in it (as well as the age-old complaint that it is bailing "blue states" out.)  I checked the legislation, and the vast majority of the bill is related to Covid-19 treatment and prevention.  He keeps saying no while millions are infected and thousands are hospitalized and dying.  Many will also suffer from the economic collapse that this country is struggling from.

As I live in a deep red state, I am resigned to the fact that many of my neighbors will never see the light, and I give up on them.  For decades, it was "liberals are evil baby killers and socialists" even as their own Republican led governments fail them.  And with Trump's recent denialism about Covid-19, two of them that I know personally have died this week from the virus.

I am so used to this attitude that I am afraid to hope that maybe, just maybe a traditionally red state will tell McConnell that they have had enough.

I have no doubt that you and the rest of the heroes in Georgia can drum up enough support for the Democratic candidates, but I am scared because the winter weather, the threat of Covid-19, and probably efforts from Kemp and his cronies to make voting even more difficult this time around will cut into your numbers.

Now, we don't know how Republicans are doing right now.  Will they feel discouraged that Trump lost that they don't have the energy to go back to the polls, or will they continue to believe the same misinformation about Democrats and believe they must save the Senate for the "evil liberals?"  Will Trump try to help Republicans, or will he ignore it?  How much voter enthusiasm came about Trump, and will it carry to January 5, 2021?  UGH!  There are so many unknown variables, and I really, really wish that the voter energy for Republicans goes down, as it will need to in order to offset the factors I mentioned that may keep Democrats from voting in January.

@allyn  We can keep Stacey Abrams and Keisha Lance Bottoms and all who are fighting to bring in needed changes in our prayers as they fight the good fight, make "good trouble" and more. We can pray for the Light and Protection and Support for Warnock and Ossoff to surround and lift them up. Remember them and all of us Georgians wanting to create a better world for ourselves, our children and grandchildren and future generations. We have been trying to drag Georgia in to the Present for years now. Jimmy Carter, one of my heroes, has fought for women and POC for years and has often been ridiculed. I think many do not know or acknowledge just how great a man he is and how much he and Roslyn have given to our nation. You have only to watch Warnock and Ossoff talk to see that they KNOW where we need to heal and go to bring ourselves in to a better future for all Georgians. I pray we make it so. Stacey? Has done an incredible job getting folks registered and getting the kinks and fraud out of our voting system here...because make no mistake... Kemp DID this "cause Georgia secretary of state and gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp improperly purged more than 340,000 voters from the state's registration rolls"

She has been instrumental in getting folks the help they needed to make their voice, their vote...count. Pray that all of us.. get to vote..to get our voices heard.

@lawrence

May this vision be so accurate that Trump and his minions leave the state alone so we can have a chance to recover from the super-spreading mad genius plot to dramatically decrease the state population.

@jeanne-mayell Been writing postcards for the last 4 yrs and the GA NAACP campaign was the most gratifying. I felt a connection with every voter on a level I didn’t understand then but I do now.

@jeanne-mayell

Love it!  I also loved this headline: "For Stacey Abrams, Revenge is a Dish Best Served Blue"

To me Stacey deserves a heck of a lot of credit for helping voters in Georgia turn the state blue. We need her help now more than ever to help Osoff and Warnock get elected in the senate run offs in January!  My hope is after that happens that eventually Joe Biden and Kamala Harris find Stacey a place in their administration. GO STACEY!

Georgia is overwhelmed, in a good way, w help from around the US and need time to plan accordingly. What they need is $$$ bc mailing lists cost $$$. Here is some info from our Indivisible Outer Cape:

“Indivisibles in Georgia work with many of the state's best organizations such as Stacey Abrams' Fair Fight, Black Votes Matter, and the New Georgia Project. These Indivisible groups are coordinating with our national organization as well as with our Indivisibles in MA.

First and foremost: They are telling us that we should not travel to Georgia to help. The threat of complicating voting by spreading Covid-19 is a serious worry for them.

They are telling us to wait until the local and state groups have the training and infrastructure in place for us to help them with phone/text banks and postcards. Once they do, their resources will be offered to the many groups in GA first and then offered to groups out of state.”

Update: looks like info/response is coming out fast and flexible. Martha’s Vineyard Indivisible was able to get a small batch of mailing addresses so anyone who wants to participate will have to keep checking. p.s. Stacey Abrams was on the training call for text- and phone-banking this week (I wasn’t on the call), her standout quote of the call was “This isn’t magic, this is math!”

@earthangel  I'd like to copy and paste your first two paragraphs on the website of a liberal democratic discussion group.  I know quite a few will donate money including myself.  With your permission and without your name.  FYI  There are members who are from all over the country with a heavy concentration in Alabama where the group was started.  But, Maryland, Indiana, California, and other states are represented.
