A federal judge ruled that the federal permits authorizing the pipeline to cross the Missouri River just upstream of the Standing Rock reservation violated the law by not adequately considering the impacts of an oil spill on fishing rights, hunting rights, or environmental justice, or the degree to which the pipeline’s effects are likely to be highly controversial.
Thanks, Marzanter, for posting this new development that is keeping the pipeline issue alive. Some of us had seen visions involving Standing Rock well into the summer and fall of this year but when the feds cleaned the site of protesters months ago, there was no more reporting on it and it seemed like the issue was a closed case. Here are some of our visions for 2017 which I took to be referring to Standing Rock.
- March: A camp fire sending smoke high into the sky. A helicopter and a feeling of Standing Rock. Not good. (Jeanne) Federal authorities clear out water protectors’ camp.
- May: Pipeline in May laid over sacred land. (Hopi prophecy implies that the “black snake” on sacred land will bring the end of a civilization (Julia).
- May: Standing Rock- spikes coming up out of the ground. The people’s heads were bowed down in defeat. (Jeanne)
- June: Standing Rock: Water rushing under pipeline, tank fire. March through June efforts made to prevent protesters from coming. (Jeanne)
- September: Large elephant (Republican Party) facing off with Native Americans, Goliath and David. Standing Rock.(Jeanne)
- September: A teepee under the night sky, empty but peaceful.
- September: Standing Rock: Hordes of people coming down the road, stampeding. Shades of WW II, small artillery. Men with white mustaches, longish hair, old hippies, they look like army veterans. (Jeanne)
- October: DAPL pipeline, protests still in news. (Lisa)
Jeanne the DAPL has leaked twice already, https://www.ecowatch.com/dapl-leaks-2418962379.html , and there has been activity on the site not reported as widely but still there for months. Jordan Chariton from TYT politics covers it extensively on their Youtube page, he travels there quite often to report.
