@lowtide Buying stamps won't do anything. The problem isn't that the USPS is out of money; it's that they are deliberately dismantling the sorting systems, literally removing drop boxes from cities. They have been told to not deliver political mail, and what isn't delivered gets destroyed. (Could this include ballots?) As soon as you get your absentee ballot, fill it in and hand deliver it to you city or county election board.

This past Tuesday, there was a primary in my state. I had requested a mail-in ballot weeks ago, but got it on Saturday. Monday was a busy day for me, so I knew I would deliver it to the election office on Tuesday. I looked up online to see where to go, and the county election website said to take it to the County Building. I got there and it was all locked ... entrance by appointment only ... but that absentee ballots were to be dropped off at the Public Works office, seven miles away. I got back in the car, drove there ... same thing: locked. There was a sign with a phone number to call for questions. I called, a woman answered, and I asked her where to drop off ballots. She told me to follow the blue voting signs, and I told her that I did ... they point to the front door. She said to look for the "big blue sign." I started to walk around the building to look for a bigger sign, and saw another woman with ballots in her hand, also looking for a drop box or door or blue sign. We eventually found a kid who worked there, asked him where to go, he walkied a supervisor who told him ballots are to get dropped off at the County Building. I said nope ... County Building had a sign that ballots were to come to this place. So he didn't know, his supervisor didn't know, and neither building was open or had drop boxes. So I told the other woman that I gave up and was going to the post office. Once there, I asked the USPS guy if I could still drop off a ballot on election day, and he said yes, as long as it was postmarked that day he would put it in the special "ballot bin." I joked, "Is that the one labeled 'trash'?" and he laughed, then rolled his eyes.

The minute I get my general election ballot in the mail, I will fill it out and call the Election office to make an appointment to hand it directly to them. I am taking zero chances with this election.

Just Wow!

I wonder if they will have the Trump name on them?

This election brought to you by Trump!

Anita... nothing to be 'sorry' about ... you raised a very valid point. Nothing should surprise us with the nefarious web that is the Familia T-rump, and we can expect their convoluted dealings with China to be on the down-low, like their convolutions with Russia, and China's with Russia, and, and, and it boggles the mind ....

"O what a tangled web they weave..."

@saibh I get your point.

https://www.salon.com/2020/08/14/buying-stamps-wont-stop-trump-from-destroying-the-postal-system/

Buying stamps would show tremendous support for the USPS. Only Congress can supply the billions needed to save it.

When enough Americans make enough noise, something will change.

At least it used to.

@anita. Dear sweet Anita, no need to apologize. I simply am trying to get people to provide links to news that gets posted here so we become more grounded and less subject to the many manipulative forces out there.

@jessi1978 posted:

"You know how T and his fellow Republicans are saying mail voter fraud. Well a Federal Judge in Pennsylvania told the Trump campaign and Republican to pony up that proof. Good luck to them with that."

I heard that on the news yesterday and after a crazy busy hard working physically all at home day it was such a good laugh! I howled with delight!

@avon Yes, I am a poll worker as well. I had to attend an educational seminar and then take an oath to uphold our voting laws. I also choose to VOTE BY MAIL, as I didn’t know where I would be stationed.

@jeans3head  If my mail ballot doesn't arrive then I'm voting in person.  And if it does arrive, I am going to deliver it in person. Come Hell or high water, my ballot will be counted.

I wonder whether organizing angry public protests (like BLM) around the country would help stop T's voter suppression efforts with the Post Office?  The R's and Rump need to see "angry mobs" (but non-violent).  In the spirit of John Lewis' "Good Trouble"...
