I might be wrong about this and please correct me if I am, but hasn't the date to declare a candidacy pasted? There is a deadline. SOmeone on twitter (not a good source Iknow) said Kanye has a new album coming out and this is publisity. I wouldn't put anything past those two fame whores. (excuse my language butit's the best discription I have). It is distraction for someone. My black friends say he is nutz and have no use for him. He turned a lot of fans off by his Rump butt kissing. meanwhile the great orange one is going more and more off the rails.
A friend of mine commented on a picture of Rump, Barr and Pompeo (?) that was on the news after the Bounty broke. They all three look like they have gained about thirty pounds! Very unhealthy looking. Thnk the stress is getting too them? I shouldn't talk I'm not skninny either but they waddle.
Sorry I'm in areally weird mood this morning. Slept too long I guess. The moon was beautiful early this morning.

He can declare all he wants, but most of the primaries are already past, so it will do him no good. He couldn't officially be on the ballot without completing literally 50 different requirements so he can be on the ballots in each state. Even if he were successful in doing that (unlikely), he would only embarrass himself if he pushes forward with it. It's just another slight distraction, and not worth anyone's attention (just like his "music", in my opinion! ;-) )
It's so depressing. And there are actually Americans who will support him. We have now set the bar so staggeringly low with ignorant, illiterate, amoral cowardly Bunker Boy that anything will go now. Why not Jerry Springer? A year or 2 ago Kim Kardashian and her bipolar hubby were trying desperately to meet the Royal family...they did not succeed but their whole ethos is marked by a crass, ignorant, aspirational aggressiveness. After all, they successfully manipulated the Capitalist system to become filthy rich and Kim has ZERO talent except for marketing her cosmetic surgeries and butt. The simple fact that they would even CONSIDER themselves remotely presidential material shows that we are now approaching that prescient movie called "Idiocracy". This pathetic development makes me want to cry. Then again, about 40% voted for the Orange Conman in 2016. Makes me deeply ashamed to be an American right now..
Then again, Kanye is an avowed tRump synchophant which will turn off many. Plus black Republicans are a tiny minority demographically. And a sizable chunk of Republicans nurse "White Grievance" and still resent Obama, a black man eons above Kanye in ability, intellect and character. The more I think about it, if Kanye and his "selfie-loving" fame- seeking wife ran on the GOP ticket how could they possibly get a sizable vote?
In the future, for ANYONE wanting to run for President, we must require:
(1) 10 years of Tax Returns and Conflicts check PRIOR to running and (2) Mental Health & Character exam...had we had that in place, the Orange Con Man would never have run...
Kanye and Kim watched Rump run for office never really wanting to win...but milking it for it's sheer publicity and free airtme. They probably view Rump as a "genius marketer" and now want to opportunistically parrot exactly what he did ...minus the actual winning of the office. This is what happens when you so greatly debase the Oval Office as Rump has done. God willing Biden and Harris win...we desperately need to restore a measure of dignity, intellect, credibility and seriousness to our country...
@tgraf66 Thank you. If I would have been in my right mind I would have remembered that. I woke this morning with a huge brain bubble. Thank goodness it has since cleared. I remember reading something awhile ago where Kim K was studying for a law degree. She wasn’t in law school she was reading all the books so she could take the bar exam. Honestly the egos of some people is amazing.
@Isabelle I agree whole heartedly with those requirements. Especially the mental exam.
RE: Kanye
I agree - it's publicity and distraction. I also agree he suffers from mental illness (bipolar), and gets "delusions of grandiosity" (that's a real thing you can look up). Or as we used to say in the Bronx: "He thinks who he is."
Primaries only count for members of actual political parties. Not sure, but I don't think you have to actually be a party member to run for POTUS - you can run as an Independent Candidate. There are state deadlines even for that, but I don't think that's past yet for most states, because the states have to wait for the party conventions to announce their official candidates before creating ballots. That being said, remember that Il Douche announced in 2015. He had lots of time to coordinate and raise money. No doubt K&K have more money than the Drumpfs, but at this late date it's unlikely anyone could coordinate an effort. We're about 16 weeks out from election day, and no matter how much money you spend, you're not going to be able to really build your base of support so quickly.
if somehow, he did get on any ballots anywhere, or if he convinced enough people to write him in, I think it actually could present a problem for Biden because it might suck away votes - not of black people (although that might depend on his VP pick), but on the MAGAts who voted for Twitler before and would vote for Biden if there's no other option, and he could provide that annoying option.
The founders/framers knew that a 2 party system would end up being lethal, but this country went that way completely by the time the Civil War ended. Personally, I'd like to see some Whigs and Tories! But they are long extinct. The Green Party has become corrupted, and the neo-Nazis took over the Libertarian parties (there is more than one, depends where you live - here in CA the American Independent Party is actually Nazi, and the Libertarian party is just tea party).
And in this Week of Hamilton (he died on July 9, 1806), I have some thoughts inspired by the show:
-The founders made sure that the families of all the soldiers who fought against the British were taken care of after they died, even if it was years later (Eliza benefited from this directly).
-Debtor's prisons existed, but were set up in a way that you could conceivably pay your way out, it wouldn't necessarily ruin your whole life.
-John Jay proposed legislation in NY to abolish slavery as early as 1777. It was roundly defeated. Even then the southern states were calling the shots.
-The women "behind the men" of the revolutionary era were way more activist than you can imagine.
-Most of the founders were born into wealth and privilege (English and Dutch), and even the ones that were born more "middle class" built their wealth on the backs of slaves. My point being these weren't just a bunch of dudes who felt oppressed by a king - these were dudes who wanted more wealth and to pay less taxes and framed their fight in the philosophy of the Enlightenment to make it more palatable.
So all of this libertarian, white supremacist, "don't tread on me" bullshit is absolutely woven into the founding fabric of this country. To say "this isn't what the founders or framers wanted" is wrong. To embrace the complete absence of social safety nets is also wrong. True, they wouldn't love our current situation - because one person is collecting more wealth than everyone else at the price of the Republic, but one wonders what they would have done about it.
I continue to maintain that had the Revolution failed, we wouldn't be perfect but we'd be southern Canada, and with way better beaches.
So Belated Happy Treason Day, Ungrateful Colonists!

@tgraf66 @yogagirl As for whether West has missed deadlines to file for presidency, he's missed deadlines to run as a Republican or Democrat, and it's too late to run as an independent in six states and the deadline in seven others is fast approaching. But he can run as a write-in candidate. Still many states don't tally write in candidates as anything but lumping them altogether as "other." It's likely a distraction and a publicity stunt but it could also be a way to draw votes away from Biden and help Trump.
Here are the deadlines: https://www.businessinsider.com/too-late-for-kanye-west-to-run-for-president-2020-7
Speaking of Kanye ... what is the read on this? I would say it sounds like conspiracy and crazy talk, except ALL OF THE RUSSIAN STUFF sounds like conspiracy and crazy talk, yet it's panning out. And I originally saw this thread because it was shared by Sarah Kendzior, who has yet to be wrong.
Basically, it posits that Kanye got out of debt via Russian oligarch money, and is tied to some familiar names. Add in that he is married to a Kardashian (ie OJ ... Dershowitz ... Epstein ... Trump), and suddenly the red thread feels pretty suspicious.
