When I read what @lawrence wrote I got a flash of my good ole friend Coyote (as in Roadrunner vs.), and that the anvil fell on his head EVERY TIME.

@yogagirl - I think the problem is rooted in the intersection of poverty, healthcare and education. KY was always a kind of carpet bagger oligarchy, with wealthy elites from elsewhere exploiting resources and human capital.  The last few decades we've seen this acceleration of budget cuts to education, healthcare and social services, so it's not really a surprise, whether it's in KY or anywhere else.

Now that New York is becoming closer to be fully opened, I was wondering will New York be one of the safest places in the US from COVID? Can we say that New York will be the least impacted by 2021?

@LauraF you are exactly right.  And Mitch has been a big contributor to this.  There are places in Eastern Ky where there are no medical facilities For hundreds of miles.  We rank near the bottom in states in education and all major areas.  Mitch has done nothing but make empty promises than laugh at the state after he is re-elected.  He rushes in with some awesome bill which will be end all and then kills it after.  The tide turned a little when he defunded the blacklung coal tax.  A group of miners traveled by bus to DC to see him and he spent two minutes with them than left.  Amy has spent two years going around the state and listening to people.  She gets a bad rap from the progressives because she the DNC’s pick but she knows that to beat Mitch she has to have a war chest.  It helps that she was a Marine pilot who has combat experience.  People here admire that.  Ah well only time will tell.  I have hope.

@enkasongwriter, I'm not sure it will be the safest place because I'm not altogether sure there will be *anyplace* in the US what will be "safe" from the virus for at least the first 6-8 months in 2021. I kind of agree that it might be safer there since they've been hit harder than most places and maybe there will be more immunity there?  I don't know.  I also think that the places like California and others that have really made an effort to control the spread will be a little safer as well, just because officials are less likely to take chances if it should have a resurgence (as is happening now).

What I do see over the next several months is the places that are getting hit hard now will continue to have major problems over the next couple of months.  Even if they pull back on re-opening, they've already lost control, especially in FL, TX and AZ, and it's going to be next to impossible to get the genie back in the bottle in those areas.  With politicians following the lead of the Orange One and the number of people who refuse to comply with even the most basic safety precautions, it's only going to get worse there.  I almost feel bad for the Republican party in those states because those are R strongholds, and the people who are not taking precautions are (I would bet hard money) likely all Trump voters.  How many of them will still be alive to vote for him in November?

@tgraf66

I read that Mitch and even Hannity and some fox people are urging people to wear a mask.

We all know T is not going to help in this effort
