My great hope for the "turning" of white supremacy is an executive order seemingly on racism. Read through to the end, though... Biden is clearly including the poorer end of the Trump spectrum in this list of underserved persons:

"The president-elect will sign an Executive Order beginning the work of embedding equity across federal policymaking and rooting out systemic racism and other barriers to opportunity from federal programs and institutions. The Executive Order will define equity as the consistent and systematic fair, just, and impartial treatment of all individuals, including individuals who belong to underserved communities, such as Black, Latino, Indigenous and Native American persons, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and other persons of color; LGBTQ+ persons; people with disabilities; religious minorities, persons who live in rural areas; and persons otherwise affected by persistent poverty or inequality.”

Definitely, I wonder what T meant by “we will be back in some form” maybe a T family member running in 2024? It doesn’t sound like T will run again

The Lincoln Project has just started a new show called: we're speaking. It's inspired by all the women who came out to vote and kicked Trump out of the WH. It's presented by Lisa Senecal and Maya May. This is just one seed, but I really hope the women's empowerment movement is here to stay. ❤️

Their first episode is streaming tonight.

Thank you @jeanne-mayell for the last 4+ years. I found your site before the 2016 election & after the unexpected results ( unexpected by me at least), I knew I had a safe place to come. Oddly enough, when I took in my ailing Rumpus supporting parents halfway thru his term, I just knew everything would eventually be ok. I had returned to my Pollyanna roots. Now I sit here misty eyed, watching Kamala Harris being sworn in, after shattering that long sranding glass ceiling. I have known since before the primaries what (& who) I'd see, but the emotions have been heightened knowing that this is taking place at the very spot where an attempted insurrection took place just two weeks ago making it even more poignant. Blessings to us all for weathering this together.

Amanda Gorman, America's youngest poet laureate, was magnificent today.  There were so many great moments today,

Biden's compassionate speech, Kamala's pride and joyfulness opposite the first SCOTUS Latina, Jennifer Lopaz's burst of Spanish to all hispanics, Lady Gaga's red dress that made her look like a red rose, seeing Pence and McConnell there, however stiff McConnell looked, he was there, loved Amy Klobachur's joyful expressions, but this young woman's poem and her performance of it, was like the icing on the cake:

Here is her story:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/amanda-gorman-inaugural-poet/

Excerpt: ( I am looking for the whole poem to read tonight in our Circle of Light):

We've seen a force that would shatter our nation rather than share it,

Would destroy our country if it meant delaying democracy.

And this effort very nearly succeeded.

But while democracy can be periodically delayed,

It can never be permanently defeated.

In this truth, in this faith, we trust.

For while we have our eyes on the future,

history has its eyes on us.

I was weeping watching it live... I have to say.. I totally lost it when young Amanda Gorman read her poem!!!  The Joy the relief the Hope... palpable.

"We will rebuild, reconcile, and recover, in every known nook of our nation, in every corner called our country, our people diverse and beautiful, will emerge battered and beautiful. When day comes, we step out of the shade, aflame and unafraid.

The new dawn blooms as we free it for there is always light if only we're brave enough to see it, if only we're brave enough to be it. "

Dear God in Heaven.... "If only we're brave enough to be it"    Shattered me completely.

The nation's first woman VP. We could not have asked for a smarter, sharper, cooler lady than Kamala Harris! ?

@jeanne-mayell

And it was so beautiful to see Kamala and Douglas, Pence and his wife graciously chatting outside the Capitol after Biden's speech. Underscored the new era of hoped for traditional civility and dignity so many have longed for. And President Biden's speech was just wonderful...he has the makings of a great POTUS and is wasting no time overturning Toxic Rumps executive orders. The joy during the Inauguration was palpable. This is a BRAND NEW DAY....???

What I noticed about this Inauguration, versus the others I've watched, (and I never watched the 2017), was the total absense of b.s.

As for our first woman President, once I started seeing Kamala Harris on the ticket as VP, I started getting the gut feeling that Biden is a one term President & she'll fill the spot in 4 years. It's not like he will pass or have health issues, but more like he's going front & center out of the gate to reverse damage of the last few years (including the obstructionist last years of Obama's term), while she's behind the scenes garnering support & setting agenda for the future. Some of the future agenda will be draining & cleaning up the swamp like her prosecutor roots kick in, while he's rebuilding trust & cooperation across the parties & shoring up social policies.

Bernie Sanders cracked me up today on CBS. The interviewer asked him about the future, and he said it's time the world sees that the US can walk and chew gum at the same time again. Then they asked him about he-who-shall-not-be-named, and he said that person lives in his own little reality bubble and it's best to leave him there. LOL

Then they commented on how social media was going wild about his gloves and such, and he said, well, in Vermont they know a thing or two about cold and staying warm.

I'm not his biggest cheerleader, but I really and truly appreciate how he threw his weight behind Biden and Harris and told his supporters to vote for them. He knew the very survival of our country was a stake and he is a patriot. Thank you, Senator Sanders.

@polarberry  I love that he endorsed the new administration as "progressive," and seems more at ease than I've ever seen him. His voice has been heard in the executive branch.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnca1VxL7eI&t=202s this one is a bit older, but has a lot of Biden in it. It's great;-)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzXBVkWASI4 Trump's lament. Or something like that: he's GONE!

Hope you'll enjoy and savor this great day! ❤️ Congrats America!
