Interesting that Pope Francis has come out publicly today on behalf of "Civil Union" laws for same sex couples.  Considering the Church's former position, this is a big step forward. I hate to be cynical and think that perhaps the Catholic Church's markedly dwindling flock may/may not play a role in this sudden "inclusivity".  In any case, in light of Amy Coney Barrett's likely ascension to the SC, this can only be a positive:  If the Pope of Rome can see his way clear to respecting same-sex couples, then surely she can see that as some kind of precedent.

@isabelle

It truly is!

I posted about this earlier on a new topical thread.  (On International Forum under "Religion and Spirituality ""

Raises a lot to not only think about but perhaps find predictions on this very topic that might have been previously seen.

Which now hits me like a wake up call!  Earlier this week or over last weekend i dreamed i saw a chimney with white smoke coming out. This usually signifies the selection of a new pope. Now i realize if this holds , we really and truly are seeing a new pope and perhaps a more inclusive church view of others!

@ lovendures. I also remember seeing Christie greet Obama in NJ and show is admiration for him after Sandy.  I have this clip of it in my memory.   It was very authentic.  Thanks for sharing the article.

No one is perfect and neither is this Pope.   However, I have felt from the moment her was chosen and enthroned that he would be the Pope for this time.  He has done a great deal of good and has shown a great deal of love.  He has focused on  many humanitarian issues.

I so agree. We are all so very human and even our leaders of religious institutions trying so hard to follow canonical laws as they have been understood, followed and passed down through the centuries are still open to the love of God and the Christ light in essence and form expressed and shared with and for all. It's a wonderful start.?

Agreed. The Pope's announcement will not only give all the Catholics on the Supreme Court something to consider, I feel it will help wake up the Catholic countries around the world which are oppressive to rights.

And yes to the dwindling flock.

I came across this on a fb post this morning which reminds me of some of our journeys. Love her work.

“Some periods of our growth are so confusing that we don’t even recognize that growth is happening. We may feel hostile or angry or weepy and hysterical, or we may feel depressed. It would never occur to us, unless we stumbled on a book or a person who explained to us, that we were in fact in the process of change, of actually becoming larger, spiritually, than we were before. Whenever we grow, we tend to feel it, as a young seed must feel the weight and inertia of the earth as it seeks to break out of its shell on its way to becoming a plant. Often the feeling is anything but pleasant. But what is most unpleasant is the not knowing what is happening. Those long periods when something inside ourselves seems to be waiting, holding its breath, unsure about what the next step should be, eventually become the periods we wait for, for it is in those periods that we realize that we are being prepared for the next phase of our life and that, in all probability, a new level of the personality is about to be revealed.”

The way I see it right now, here is where we are with the Great Unraveling.

Currently a kitten is stalking a ball of string staring at it intently, eyes wide open.

Shortly, the kitten will pounce and that string ball will unwind itself as it is batted  across the house, over sofa pillows, under the table, through the kitchen and criss crossing throughout the bedroom.

Wait for it.

I was thinking something closer to when the cartoon robots overload, their heads spin and smoke, then the arms come popping off, and finally an explosion with a few random springs comedically ending up miles away.

So as I sat here drinking my morning coffee and perusing the postings..this image came to mind. A 2 year old boy ..dressed only in a diaper......stuffing the toilet full of lego blocks, action figures and other toys and underwear and trying desperately to flush them all down and crying and red-faced when caught and asked what he is doing.

@journeywithme2. No need for interpretation of this one. :-). Thank you for posting it.  Although I've known many two-year old boys who were smarter and kinder than the one in your vision.

When I was nine years old, sitting at my spot at the Sunday dinner table, I heard my father disparagingly speaking about someone and say they were acting like a nine year old.  Well! I was insulted, and rightfully so!

@laura-f One of my all time favorite songs!

Ooh child
Things are gonna get easier
Ooh child
Things'll get brighter
Ooh child
Things are gonna get easier
Ooh child
Things'll get brighter
Some day, yeah
We'll put it together and we'll get it undone
Some day
When your head is much lighter
Some day, yeah
We'll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun
Some day
When the world is much brighter
Ooh child
Things are gonna be easier
Ooh child
Things'll be brighter
Ooh child
Things are gonna be easier
Ooh child
Things'll be brighter
Some day, yeah
We'll put it together and we'll get it undone
Some day
When your head is much lighter
Some day, yeah
We'll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun
Some day
When the world is much brighter
Some day, some day, some day, some day yeah
We'll put

I just cannot get enough of this four seasons thing. This is just the Gods having a laugh at his expense. The self-proclaimed billionaire enters the political arena on an escalator with huge fanfare, and exits in the parking lot of a small landscaping business facing a porn shop(with "booths" according to signage). You can't make this crap up. It's priceless.

Yeah, and then the hard work of knitting that string into something coherent can begin.  Time to roll up the proverbial sleeves!

The Four Seasons Landscaping thing is like an episode of Veep.

Just watched the victory speeches. KH sounded like the nice teacher at the assembly - I think we all get pizza next week! And Joe, well, it's nice to hear full sentences again, especially in a conciliatory tone.

At about 7pm here my husband said "Feels like it's ten o'clock already." I replied, "Yeah, but 10 o'clock on Christmas Day night."  Time for rest.

Me too @mas1581.  Straight out of The Onion, but it really happened, didn't it?

@mas1581 And a crematorium across the street. Oh, the symbolism. Death throes. Base instincts. Going down in flames. It’s all there.

Its hard to to believe that Four Seasons thing really happened. I read somewhere on Twitter — a journalist— that they used that landscaping venue to help 45 save face after he prematurely tweeted that they’d be at the FS Hotel. The hotel wasn’t having it, so they found some other place called Four Seasons. Lol. No way to know if that’s actually how it all unfolded.

Why couldn’t they have just said it was a mistake and have their little press thing at 45’s golf club, or his DC hotel? Or the WH? lmao. My guess is that the orange infant was having a trumpertantrum, and he wouldn’t settle for anything that wasn’t labeled “Four Seasons.” smh  There were so many other choices!

Can you imagine the advance team getting there and being like, “Yeah, this could work. Get a whole bunch of signs and plaster them on this garage door. Find some duct tape, stat! Cameras will just focus here and no one will be the wiser.” Can’t you just hear them self-congratulating and high-fiving all over the place? Hahaha!

After his people have spent all of that time time calling the media “fake”, and I think the camera operators relished showing the truth.

He doesn’t even have the B Team anymore. This is more like the D Team.
