I just know that someday soon his last name will no longer mean surpass or victory.
Kiki
Welcome @Kiki ?
Admitted logophile here and I've had the very same thought more than once. The word "trumped" will very quickly come to mean "to be fooled, conned, tricked, and/or outrageously lied to."
He's the final inflated louse that bit the head of late stage capitalism. It's infected. No denying that fact ever again.
"think Pence, but with balls" ? ?
Don't worry, everyone. He's back! He's bigger! He's better! Able to leap tall White Houses in a single bound!!
According to Dr. Jonathan Crane, er, Dr. Sean Conley, he's new and improved and symptom free. Says the doctor who was appointed by the world's greatest physician, Ronny Jackson.
?
P.S. Dr. Conley is an osteopath. Not an internist or even a GP, but an osteopath. So if you need an alignment or some cream for your arthritis... *rolling eyes so hard*
@vestralux guurrrrlll I heard the "pop" of those rolling eyes from here!!! LOL ? Love it.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff are in serious trouble.
So is Chris Christie. With respect to Jeanne, I'll stop there.
But all tarot lovers will recognize this as their Tower moment. The roof is on fire and folks are falling/diving from the highest windows.

Just an aside: I have Roger Zelazny's "Amber Chronicles" on my bookshelf. This is an SF/Fantasy series of ten novels, wherein each member of a powerful, morally ambiguous family (sound familiar?) possesses a magical deck of cards. The cards are referred to as the "Trumps". One of the books in the series is titled "Trumps of Doom". (How prescient of Zelazny) I had to turn the spine of that one around in 2016 and I don't know if I'll ever be able to re-read the series again. boo.
Sorry to derail (BUT THAT'S WHAT I DO), but I'm thinking of the most awesome episode of The West Wing, which aired eleventy-billion years ago so I don't remember all the details. Except that the president (Martin Sheen) was debating gay rights with Dr. Laura Schlessinger (far right radio pundit; can't remember who played her on the show).
He utterly annihilates her position simply by using (outrageous but actual) Biblical scripture, mainly Old Testament lines out of Deuteronomy and Leviticus, to make the point that her Good Book also called for heinous acts (e.g., burning one's daughter on the alter to make a pleasing scent for the Lord, etc.) which any sane person would condemn today, left or right. It isn't wise to pick and choose scripture to bolster some kind of political moral authority over other peoples' lives.
At the very end of his take-down, he says something like, "What kind of doctor are you exactly?" The person we all know as Dr. Laura has a doctorate of English, a field in which she doesn't even practice. "Doctor" of B.S., if we're being honest.
As a young queer person from the conservative South, I remember leaping off my sofa and cheering. Crying, even. I've never forgotten it.
Ahem. Back to things that are unraveling...
During last night's Circle of Light Meditation with Jeanne, I actually felt compelled to place Christie as my individual in the middle of the circle. I was a bit surprised when the thought came to me but went with it. I have felt sad when I think of him, very frustrated when I think of the Joint Chiefs.
It is so good to see you here. I have been thinking a lot about you lately and am glad you popped in today! A blessing to hear from you.
Given that nothing has been more prescient or accurately predictive of future events than the literary sci-fi (+ fantasy) genre over the last 120 years, I feel like I need to track down some Zelazny immediately.
To be fair, osteopaths today (DO) are no less fully trained physicians than are their MD colleagues, and they practice in all the same specialties as well. They’re not chiropractors. And osteopathic medical schools are just as rigorous and just as hard to get into as are those medical schools that produce MDs.
That doesn’t mean that an individual osteopath can’t be a chump, however.

I am right there with you, @lovendures . I believe that Christie is undergoing a crucible of the soul right now. As tragic as his errors have been—however self-serving and continually power-motivated they are (and may continue to be, who can say?)—he isn't a conscienceless man. He's a wounded, damaged child who adapted a survival strategy that worked very well for him for a long time.*
But he's very afraid right now. And I feel only compassion for him.
*This is the theme of this Administration. Hell, this period in American history. We've allowed ourselves to be lead by wounded, damaged children who happen to have highly adaptive but also highly malignant strategies for survival. It's the most short-sighted form of survival in that it includes only themselves.
Forgive me. You're absolutely correct, of course. And I knew this when I posted it. I meant no disrespect to osteopaths or the profession itself.
This one is a moron, though. Worse, a sycophantic moron. And I wouldn't trust the guy to so much as check my pulse.
Stephen Miller just tested positive.
WOW!!!!!!!!
It is like an full blown Opera right now. Tragedy or Comedy, depending upon your view I guess, and who is writing it.
Tragedy for the American people.
Cherry-picking the Bible is the evangelicals playbook. God's word has been twisted to justify some of man's greatest evils, sadly.
I remember that show! I don't think I ever saw the episode you speak of, but I got a chuckle from Dr. Laura. I haven't heard her name in a long time. She's faded into obscurity, I think, replaced by new and improved right-wingers. Her sex-and-a-sandwich is the answer to everything approach isn't much appreciated by most women today.
I had the best laughs I've had in a while when I read this headline from the Daily Beast today:
Man With Raging COVID Infection Baselessly Claims the Flu Is the Real Problem
We are really in the theater of the absurd now. Twilight zone, here we come!

During last night's Circle of Light Meditation, when it came to the part where we focus healing and loving kindness on one person, I found that T himself was in my focus, and I was sending loving kindness to him. I didn't want to. But there he was anyway. I was praying for his heart to awaken from the awful darkness the grips him.
