@journeywithme2 Exactly, and the past few days I've been feeling that something very bad is coming this month (August). Many Trump cabinet members have been meeting at Bedminster and Mark Meadows said they are ready to "move forward in a real way." Here in Boise, Proud Boys and Patriot Front have been hanging banners and flyers that law enforcement has been removing as soon as they are spotted.

I've also been noticing a steady drumbeat of news stories since the beginning of the month that are ominous for the former president (I refuse to dignify him by using his name or even an epithet). Alone, each of these stories are easily lost in the ambient noise. But all together they suggest bad tidings for the old dispensation.

@coyote I think he might end up being betrayed by his oldest daughter.

@jeanne-mayell Also, with their anti Vax rhetoric, the GOP is killing off their followers with Covid.  It’s insanity.

Let's talk about Andrew Cuomo. I never liked the guy. I grew up in CT but within NY's media market, so I remember his first gubernatorial run in 2010 and even went to college in NY during his 2nd and 3rd runs. His tactics and demeanor always seemed mobster-ish and smacking of extreme arrogance. If I voted in the 2018 NY Democratic primary, I would have held my nose and voted for him if only because his sole opponent was a former TV actress who had never held political office. (Haven't we had enough of politician-celebrities?) So I'm guessing that his longevity as governor has less to do with popular adoration than a lack of effective dissent (which speaks both to his thuggish hold on the NY Democratic apparatus and the shortcomings of partisan politics in general).

So I wasn't surprised when women started coming forward with claims of sexual misconduct in the spring, or when disclosures started surfacing of misconduct related to the pandemic. I've been wanting to say this for a long time, but Cuomo and the former president have a lot in common: they are both huge snowflakes. In addition to their obvious shared penchant for sexual abuse; sycophancy from underlings; and faux machismo, they can't handle being called out. Cuomo even whined that the suggestions of misconduct that started surfacing in the spring were "cancel culture" (that phrase has become a GOP dog whistle for shutting down debate on anything you don't like).

Well, now with the release of the AG Letitia James's report and with more investigations still to be wrapped up, Cuomo's political standing is eroding fast. Lets hope the same fate is awaiting #45.

Not sure if it fits here, but these news stories are about unruly customers on airplanes and restaurants. What's going on?

In addition, we are seeing anti-vaxxers dying and regretting getting COVID with the Delta variant.

@coyote When we were at my mom's earlier this spring and the news first broke she commented as she often does on the news "He's Italian and a New Yorker" as a way to brush the news off as irrelevant.  My wife and I both said simultaneously "it doesn't matter."

@enkasongwriter What's going on is that an airline and a few restaurants have given newspapers some anecdotes to write about. In both stories, alcohol seems to be part of the story involving unruly behavior. Also with restaurants, staffing shortages and alcohol together may be part of the story.  There is nothing in these stories that indicates any real rise in unruly behavior though. These are anecdotes.  It's possible there is a rise in such unruly behavior. Certainly Donald Trump created a cult of unruly behavior.

Ooooh wow!  Shameful doesn't even begin with what has been going on to suppress Women's NCAA basketball sports.  Think a light has already been shown regarding the championships  discord between NCAA treatment of men and women basketball?  Think again.

It is amazingly horrible.
