@deetoo I'm doing OK.  Yes I did have a small glass of very fine Kentucky Bourbon to toast MM's demotion.  It is the least I could do!

One other thing, Last nite when they were discussing staff resignations at the WH.  The showed a picture of Choa and I got a creepy feeling of evil.  Don't know why or specificially what it pertains to but she has done something very wrong.

@jeanne-mayell I think they removed the video. @Cleavon_MD. He's an emergency doctor in Arizona who takes care of Covid patients and a veteran. He has memorials to people have died from covid as well as stuff from yesterday.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill. is the first Republican to publicly call for the invocation of the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office.

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/live-updates/2020-election-results-transition/?id=75022086&cid=social_fb_abcn&fbclid=IwAR3IqAj5kyH4t5DuJTQWMCwNkpacUkI2T7OOasq0He-hC8kv67LSnmEnJ3E#75110863

Schummer is saying if they will not use the 25th Amendment then congress should get ready to Impeach

quickest and most effective" way to do this would be through use of the 25th Amendmentbut that if Vice President Mike Pence and the Cabinet don't act, Congress should reconvene to impeach the president.

@seeker4

She did resign? Interesting.

I think we will soon find out that the order for yesterday's assault came from the very top.

@polarberry  There is nothing to indicate that she has actually resigned yet, but there were reports yesterday that she was considering it.  Mick Mulvaney resigned along with several other WH staffers, but not Ms. Chao as of right now.

I am reading these posts and see that the forum is hopeful that the Republicans will finally, finally make Trump pay.  After all, he helped them lose Congress, attack member of their own party in various states, and now has sent a large mob after them.

Oh, if only!

Now, in order for the 25th Amendment to take affect, they need to decide if they are going to "temporarily" or "permanently" remove Trump for power.  If it is "temporary," then Pence and a majority of the Cabinet (8 out of 15) need to vote for it.  And then a bare majority in Congress is all that is needed to complete the process.  If permanent, same rules apply, except you would need 2/3 of Congress.

Pence and the Republicans will never do this.  EVER!  Trump will lay low for a few days (two at most) before he spouts out his usual rhetoric again.  Probably try to get his followers to attack Biden on January 20 or something like that.

Seriously, why should Pence and the Republicans do anything?  They have always wrung their hands and acted uncomfortable, but they still go along with him every single time.  And yes, they have been shaken by this, but their denial will come back into play and they will say "well, no one in our group actually were hurt or died from this" (Note: the "group" is obviously the Republican members and leadership.  God forbid they include regular citizens or Democrats in the mix).

Now, there is no reason to NOT remove Trump.  They have nothing to lose.  Pence is out as VP, Turtle Man is now minority leader in the Senate, and many establishment Republicans will be challenged no matter what (regardless of whether they voted to stop the Electoral College, Trump and his minions will challenge them because they didn't succeed.)  Also, the longer Trump is in office, the more likely it is that he will try something like this again or even something worse.

But this would mean that Republicans would have to acknowledge they were wrong about Trump.  And they actually respect themselves to say that they should not have been subjected to the fear and the threats of violence that the rest of us have endured under the tyranny of the MAD ORANGE ONE for the last five years.

In other words, respect for others, self-respect, and courage are needed to do the right thing to remove Trump.  And sadly, these are not qualities that are encouraged or required to be a Republican.

A lot more resignations to follow, I suspect. The biggest rats who thought the ship might not sink are calling mayday.

Moscow Mitch and his lady are going to start throwing up their hands and crying that they never liked the guy. It has always been about the cover he provided so they could make their millions.

The credit is entirely Baba's; it was her vision. I shouldn't have called it that; I just kept having these mental images all day that were piggybacked off of what she saw. For some reason the image of MM in a satan outfit is just so damned funny.

I dont think the 25th or impeachment will work. Impeachment takes too much time and would never finish by the 20th. 25th can be "appealed" by a letter from Trump and then the process would take us out past the 20th. Trying to make a move that will certainly fail can incite more violence from his cult so I think all this talk is just a message to others that he has lost all his support and no one needs to listen to him anymore.

No worries @polarberry, I feel like we get info from the collective and my vision may have triggered yours. And I agree that MM in a devil’s costume is pretty hilarious. Time will tell what that means!

@allyn  The only reason they might is if they fear the fact that he can do even more in the next fourteen days.  Their choice: stop it now; or continue in their delusional thinking that they can control him.  I'm not hopeful though.

@mas1581, according to Wikipedia, if Pence gets a majority of the Cabinet to buy in, and notifies the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House, Trump can be removed IMMEDIATELY and Pence would then be Acting President. Then if the President states no disability exists, the Acting President and Cabinet have 4 days to provide a written declaration that the President is unable to continue. Then the matter must be decided by Congress, if in session, within 21 days, by a 2/3 vote of both houses of Congress.

Pence would continue as Acting President unless Congress found the President "fit for duty!"

I love Wikipedia!

My biggest concern right now is that t***** will pardon all the insurrectionists who are in jail right now. CNN had pictures of the 4 most wanted from yesterday’s invasion of the Capitol Building and my first thought was that now that their names are out there, what will stop them from being pardoned for their actions by the criminal in the WH?

Pence has options available to him. Big question is whether he has the spine to act. Has he figured out yet that Twitler will throw anyone under the bus when he deems them no longer useful to him personally?

Look where unquestioned loyalty got Thomas Cromwell. Despots don't care.

Editing to add we can't forget that Pence is complicit in this administration's crimes as well.

@snowbird

With the timeline, we are looking at, at quickest, the 8th for it to be invoked, he will delay his response for at least a day and then 4 days for Pence to reply so the 14th. Then the Senate is in recess now til the 20th so that pushes it out further. Even if Mitch calls them back for one last jab, it will take another day to get them back(the 15th) and then Cruz/Hawley will delay things as much as they can thru parliamentary procedure so maybe at best he is ousted the 18th or 19th. That gives him 10-11 days to retaliate to the 25th being invoked. If you think he is crazy now, just imagine what he will do if he knows he is going to be surely ousted in disgrace with no chance at refunding in 2024 or staying relevant.....and he has a week and a half to do it.

If those are my only 2 options, I'll take my chances with 12 more days of him trying to save his brand and stay relevant over 10 days with him being completely cornered even in his own mind.
