*Note: This is an Independence Day hit for me personally (and likely for many of us here on the forum). For me, the freedom being celebrated was more of a "remembrance" of what freedom represents and what is being lost. @lovendures Mahatma Ghandi from India can be thought of to be very successful in achieving freedom for his Land and he was convinced that this is what we ought to do first when demanding for freedom in our land: "Please do not carry unnecessarily on your head the burden of emancipating your land. Emancipate your own self. Even that burden is very great. Apply everything to yourself. Nobility of Soul consists in realizing that you are yourself your land. In your emancipation is the emancipation of you land." So this might be already one personal demanding when demanding for freedom as Ghandi said, as this is the key struggle, it is in ourselves... Aurobindo was thinking also about emancipation of oneself as the primary thing to do in demanding freedom, when he wrote: "The dangers and disadvantages of liberty (conceived in the limited western sense) are indeed obvious. But they only arise from the absence or defect of the sense of unity between individual and individual, between community and community, which pushes them to assert themselves at the expense of each other instead of growing by mutual help.... If a real, a spiritual and psychological unity were effectuated, liberty would have no perils and disadvantages; for free individuals enamored of unity would be compelled by themselves, by their own need, to accommodate perfectly their own growth with the growth of their fellows and would not feel themselves complete except in the free growth of others ...."
And maybe then there is nothing lost but much to achieve when we emancipate ourselves to unity between individual and individual with the next human we are seeing and meeting and to recognize everyone of them as our fellow. However, as Ghandhi said ... to really try this might be burden enough ....

@seaholly The article you quoted about the heatwave in Europe reads scary and sad but is true. Here's another article that backs up your prediction heatwaves-contribute-warmest-june-record-western-europe. During this last heatwave, it felt impossible to be active outside at all. Biking slowly and gently outside felt like going against the flow of a hot hairdryer. I'm so glad we now have a little break with cooler temperatures where I live, but unfortunately this break is only in a few European regions.
