@jeanne-mayell The more he speaks unfettered the more we gain. Now with every false move he is making he is losing ground with his supporters.
Will the draft be reintroduced in the US as a result of this war? Yes
I just had a big discussion about this topic with family members last night including 2 young men which might be impacted by a draft.
My father happened to have a birthdate for the first number called during the Vietnam War. The FIRST one called!! I can't imagine what that moment was like for him?
I sure hope we don't do this again.
The Cuban crisis and Trump's remarks about it are showing the world and our country that he is unfit for office. This atrocity takes my breathe away. While our visions showed he'd be exposed in a bad way in March, he has managed to show himself to be worse than anyone could have imagined.
@jeanne-mayell it's his " I can do whatever I want " that really , really gets to me. The Evil that lives and breathes as that man. It's past time.
@lowtide I saw that in the news. Who appointed Joe Kent? Is he a competent person?
@lovendures I cannot imagine the American people-- except maybe the 5 to 10% worst of them-- tolerating a draft. There would be a major uprising IMO. Perhaps that would be a good thing in the long run: one that unites us all.
My son is draft age. I'd immediately ship his *ss off to the southern hemisphere where we have family, no question about it.
I was a little kid during the '60's but I have siblings 10-12 years older than me. The draft was a terror for young people of that age and their families. Every so often someone my siblings knew was shipped off to Vietnam, and not all of them came back. The whole thing was incredibly traumatic and I think I have a bit of PTSD from it.
@ana served in both trump administrations, big friend of Tucker Carlson and MAGA true believer, until now.
Read his letter of resignation to Trump in the article.
