@matildagirl well done to you Australians, you managed to beat the Murdoch media and all his cronies. I know they tried to throw everything at Labor in trying to keep Scott Morrison in power. You are now free. I am so happy for you.
Hopefully one day in the future, the UK will follow Australia's example.
Australia shocker news this morning -- that while he was the country's Prime Minister, (he was voted out last May), Scott Morrison had secretly sworn himself in as a second health minister, finance minister, resources minister, and home affairs minister, along with appointing himself co-treasurer. And he kept his new roles a secret from the public and most of his colleagues in Parliament.
How could the people have not known this was happening? I find this disturbing, that such a move went unknown all this time.
I also think of how Donald Trump had so many unfilled department heads in our government during his administration. His appointees kept leaving. At one point we had an extraordinary list of "acting" department heads. But that situation is not the same as the situation in Australia.
So back to my question: How did Australian's not know?

Some more information on Scott Morrison appointing himself to ministries.
The first one was Health and he did discuss this with the Health Minister. This was during the Covid lockdown and his reasoning I gather was in case the Health Minister got Covid and decisions needed to be made. The others were at different times and he didn’t mention it to the various Ministers. It was done legally through The Governor General, it is the secrecy and the why. He overrode one Ministers decision just before the election because he thought it would harm their chances in the election. Personally glad he did as it was for gas exploration in the ocean just off the area I live in along the whale migration route. The seismic activity would interfere with the whales.
One of the odd things he and the Treasurer at the time were living together in The Lodge during our Covid lockdown and never mentioned it to him that he held the portfolio as well.
He is still a member of Parliament not sure whether he will resign or stay on the back bench.
Life keeps on being interesting.

@jeanne-mayell Hi Jeanne, further to your post on Scott Morrison taking on ministries in secret. There has been an inquiry regarding it and the new government is going to put into law the recommendations from the Justice Bell report and they are also going to put a censure motion to Parliament against him.
