@allyn Wow, Allyn, that's shocking! Thank goodness it was recognized as a stroke quickly and you had access to immediate care. It's a great blessing that you are getting back to your normal self, and so quickly. Please follow your doctors' guidance and take it easy for a while. I have written about leaving my abusive ex. He sees the girls for a few hours a few times a week but has lately been having bad fights with the oldest (9). The most recent was off the charts and I spoke w her therapist (for her anxiety) about how to shift the parenting plan to keep them safe- I have full physical custody. I shared with him the reasonable plan and he is upset. This will all play out in the next couple days and I hope you can keep us in your thoughts. I want my girls to grow up safe and as a wife I could extricate myself easier than their tender souls have been able to. Thank you.
Gosh, tough row to how. So, I will take a shot in the dark. I highly recommend an old but excellent book, Why is it always about you?: The Seven Deadly Sins of Narcissism, by Sandy Hotchkiss. Having dealt with narcissists all of my life, it was the single most helpful book I have ever read.
Knowing only that your husband became upset with whatever plan you proposed, suggests to me that he is highly sensitive to criticism, I bet always, even if it is couched in the most diplomatic terms. Spending ~$13 on this book could aid your efforts in protecting your daughters. There are no easy answers, just a framework of what definitely doesn't work and the little bit that does.

@jaidy There are no easy answers ... I have been where you are. My ex hit my son upside the head with a beer bottle because he was there for his " weekend" and his dad got mad at him for saying something that sounded like me supposedly .. it tore the muscle in his eye and he ended up having lazy eye for several years before I could afford the surgery to fix it. Visitations stopped after my son told the pediatric ophthalmologist how it happened... dr was required to report it ... I pray with all my heart you are able to make the needed changes before harm comes to your girls... please ask her therapist for advice as well your attorney for the best approach. Praying for you with all of my heart and soul for the Highest Good for all concerned. 🙏🏻💜🙌💜🙏🏻
Thank you for your responses. I did a good job protecting us in the divorce and getting full custody. But I need to stay centered and strong as he rails against having any line drawn- which I went through before when I said the abuse needs to stop or I’m gone in the marriage. I believe I have the ability to enact the therapists suggestions for parenting shifts but withstanding his threats and arguments is my test - to show my daughters their value and how to enact boundaries and to do so with confidence, a pure heart and pure intentions in peace.
@jaidy I’m so sorry. My daughter and her children are going through a similar situation. I will keep you and your children in my prayers and surround you with protective light. As a mom and grandmother I can tell you I pray about this each and every day, throughout the day. I will include your family with mine. The positive take away, if there could be any, is the strength I see in the women like you and my daughter. I too was in that situation and fought like a mama bear.
