Prayers please for my mom. I visited her today and she looked pale, was extremely tired, and became dizzy. Her blood pressure was low. She was not very lucid today either. I take comfort that she still knows I am her daughter. Alzhejmers takes so much away. Also grateful to be divinely led to be right there with her today when she became dizzy and unsteady on her feet and for the young man on staff who tended to her. I visit once a month or so, it is a long drive for me. Right place, right time.
Please prayers for my friend Steve who is losing his battle fighting lung cancer. It has spread and he is in hospice receiving palliative care. Prayers for a good passing, He is only 64. Prayers for his wife Susan.
Put me on that list too. New unsettling symptoms this weekend. Going to get checked out tomorrow I hope if my doctor can squeeze me in. I am a little scared,
Saw my doc today. My asthma is off the charts with this crazy pollen count and lack of rain here in the Northeast. I am grateful it wasn't something worse. Got meds and was told I have to wear the mask, especially outside, and especially in public.
Every time I try to live life without a mask, I get sick. So, I have no choice. But I feel nervous. Some idiot stranger yelled at me to take my mask off recently. People feel emboldened to be confrontational.
He also advised me to get a Covid booster, which I did when I went to pick up the meds.
@ghandigirl There's a lot of smoke in the air in the Northeast from the Canadian wildfires. I'm in NYC and wearing a mask too, because the air quality is so bad. That might have something to do with your asthma. Hope you feel better soon.
I wanted to post an update on my aunt who was severely injured in a pedestrian accident last Tuesday. She came off the respirator, is able to eat pureed foods, and was even able to sit up in bed yesterday. She's recovered her short-term memory and is talking easily. She left the ICU last night for a regular hospital room. It's really rather miraculous.
It's not clear if she'll ever be able to walk again, especially because of her post-polio syndrome, and I know she'll have challenges along the way. But your powerful healing energies have made a difference in my aunt's recovery until now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
@gbs, it's so interesting that you just gave us an update on your aunt. I was thinking about her this morning and was wondering how she was doing. That's such good news, @gbs. I know it's a long road ahead, but I'm always in awe of, and have faith in the power of spirit and human resilience. You both remain in my prayers and I will be including your aunt in tomorrow's Circle of Light meditation.
Like deetoo I was also thinking of your aunt and wondering how she was doing.
It's incredible how well she is doing. I think miraculous is the right word.
As a postscript I wanted to share something I think is really beautiful.
My parents had an amazing love affair. She was 16 when they met. She was 21 when they married. They were married 59 years at the time of his passing.
He passed 11 years ago. She is always looking for him and trying to find a way back to our house.
I noticed a new resident at the memory care home this visit who looked like my dad. My sister told me mom is following him around and calling him by my dad's name. He doesn't mind.
What a gift. In her mind she has found her husband at last.. To have her feel connected to him again in this small way is EVERYTHING. I sense much more peace in her. And I am amazed at the way this is playing out for her.
That is simply wonderful. Thank you, thank you, thank you. My aunt is now being transferred to an acute rehabilitation center, so I’ll be visiting her next weekend to see in person how she’s doing.
@gbs, thanks for the update. That is hopeful news. I'm so glad your aunt is moving forward.
We'll be keeping your aunt and you in the Circle of Light. Please keep us posted.
