I think it is time for some Reggae. This song has very encouraging lyrics for times like these. And people that can walk better than i can dance. And lots of amazing hats!
LYRICS: GRADUATION IN ZION (Rockers movie version)
(Kiddus I)
No it won't be too long now
No it won't be too long
Till all of the sufferings
And wrongs soon will be right
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keep the faith, my brothers and sisters.
It's the cross that you bear.
And fear not saying Jah Law
“Whatsoever, ever man soweth
They all will reap,
the fruits Of their labors, yes they will,
in the end”
Oh yeah, yeah, oh yeah
So, seek ye good and not evil
Ooohh I beg you, my brethren
And cheer up, cheer up, cheer up
Cheer up, cheer up
Yes.
Now all folly workers now beware
Heed my cry.
Less the wrath you call down on yourselves
Be too dread for even you, to bear,
Oh, oh, yeah. yeah.
Cause the wages of the denial is death with Babylon
And the gift of Jah is eternal life in Zion
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
[My transcription from that recording. Additions and corrections are welcome.]
This is a poem by Leonard Cohen. Sung by Buffy Sainte-Marie, who is a Native American folk singer/artist/humanitarian activist. From her album "Illuminations" which is considered to be the very first quadrophonic electronic album ever. Although this sounds nothing like what most people think of as Electronica today. (maybe more like Folktronica?) This is "God is alive, Magic is afoot" https://youtu.be/i-GonR4S1to
José y Maria, by Everett Patterson. happy holidays, everyone
Jeanne, with her music section is still singing to the beat of my and many other hearts. It's been awhile since I posted, and missed you all. Here is my Christmas anthem from Casting Crowns. It is getting me through; much inspiration for the condition of humanity at the moment. Merry Christmas to all. I wish you peace.
Luminata, my friend, when I listened to this music I felt so uplifted. The lyrics really touched my heart and I felt such truth reasonating with this song. Truly, the great mass of humanity longs for peace on earth and goodwill towards men. I felt that longing reverberating around the world, like a prayer from humanity lifting up to the heavens.
You have been missed in this coummunity and I am sending you much love.
Luminary it is so nice to hear from you again. You have lifted my heart with your song and with your reappearance. I have set another Read the Future night for Thursday. January 17. Will have it posted tomorrow. I remember the amazing things you saw when you came a year ago.
Thank you Jeanne! I would love to join you all :-)
As we have been discussing Dante's Inferno in various threads on the forum over the past several days, I thought it timely to post a link to Loreena McKennitt's original song Dante's Prayer.
She is my favorite singer/songwriter and is mostly known for her Celtic music. She wrote it shortly after the fall of the Soviet Union. While traveling alone by train on a multi-day journey through Siberia, Dante's Inferno kept appearing in her mind. She made the connection to the people subject to Stalin's deportations to Siberia and the great sufferings they endured in the fields of Gulag prisoner camps. During that time you could be deported there for 10 years if you were starving and took a leftover potato from a harvested field. Not all prisoners there were political.
This original version of the song Dante's Prayer begins and ends with a brief clip of Russian Orthodox Prayer sung during the Easter season.
My daughter and I had the great pleasure of seeing her perform live in concert 2 years ago and it was truly the most inspiring and beautiful of experiences to share together.
I hope you are as moved by this song as I am.

Lovendures, thank you!
My daughter gave me this album in CD format a very long time ago and I listened to it and all of my other beloved Celtic music from the earliest pre-Enya Clanned era on.
Over these holidays my very old CD stereo system broke down and now a days there is no one to repair the laser reader for its huge multi CD system any more.
I was heartbroken. I'd play its entire sets for like 8 or more hours straight, day after day,
Now, even those it much more complicated and non consecutive or my sets at least there's youtube! This was a lovely remembrance that even as the things we love are lost, we will find other ways to bring the joy of music into our lives.
