Besides, getting to be called a “Lost Canadian” sounds like you’re a member of a heavy metal goth band, so it makes it even more alluring.
LOL. As for me, the founders of the "Barenaked Ladies" band, whom I admire for their wit, literacy, and musical talent, are from the same town where my immigrant ancestor settled in the 1820's.
When I went to the consulate in NY to pick up my passport, one of the officials said, "welcome, sister."
That is very, very lovely. 😊
I got mine. Yes, am a Canadian citizen. And now, applying for my kids. @lynne, also am eligble for Spanish citizenship, so that will be next! Good backups to have in case. However, I am just so American and I love my country, and I LOVE THIS LAND. And I love Americans. All of them. Even the misguided. Coast to coast,
From the California to the New York island From the redwood forests to the Gulf Stream waters This land was made for you and me. (the great Woodie Guthrie)
@jeanne-mayell Oh that is great Jeanne! It does seem to many New England.are of Canadian roots. Ive been in Florida for a bit but I'm New England through and through. Apparently Nova Scotian too. AGREE fully about American too. I am going to be dual. Not giving up my American citizenship. The back up eases my anxieties now is all. It is more than the one man, it is the corruption of so many in all the branches, even though I believe it will eventually work out. Always does eventually historically. Besides, with climate change...Canada may be the place to be! Theres a reason he wanta Canada and Greenland afterall...(I hope the lands are protected during potential climate related influx of developers.)
@jeanne-mayell I am investigating this. Turns out my all american prerevolutionary family had a flaw, or a blessing. My bio grandfather was descendant of Canada and Portugal.I discovered this 8 years ago.
After I get my paperwork filed my giveback will be to assist others in researching. If anyone here wants the assistance in researching a tree or DNA I may be able to assist.
