Sad news all. Starlight has passed. ?

It's my fault. I let her go. She stopped eating again this morning even though she was clearly hungry. I felt her misery and even though I gave her meds which allowed her to rest in peace for a bit, she was unhappy: it radiated off her. I had the choice to keep trying to get her to eat during this weekend, but in the end I decided against it.

She didn't eat for 5 days in a period of 10. She was about 1.6 pounds and extremely small. She had more and more tremors and coughed/choked now and then.

When the vet gave her her shot I stroked her and she purred. She slowly went under like that.

I just didn't know what to do anymore. I feel like a failure. I don't know why she was guided towards me when I only led her to her death. I am incredibly sad and can't stop crying. I've only known her for a couple of weeks but she was special. I just hope my rainbow cat Holly will take care of her.

@moonbeam. You are not a failure. Starlight was telling you today that she wanted to go. You honored her wishes. That’s why she was sent to you. So you would help her pass, with love and great care.

Her little body just didn’t work right. ?

I’m so sorry, @moonbeam. You will see her again someday, and she will be healthy, happy and whole. ❤️

@moonbeam  Oh, I am so sorry.  I know you did your best --- even going above and beyond "due diligence" for a pet.   Perhaps she was guided to you (and you to her) so you could give her comfort in her last days.  She passed knowing she was loved.

@moonbeam, she is at peace now.  You did all you could and then you did the humane thing which was to end her suffering.  Bless you.

It is her blessing that you let her go peacefully.  That you were attentive to her needs and what she was trying to tell you.

She was fortunate.

@moonbeam  Dearest Moonbeam - I refrained from responding to your posts on your sweet kitten with health issues for 2 reasons. #1 - as a veterinary professional for 30 years.. in the oath we take .."Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health and welfare, the prevention and relief of animal suffering"  #2 I had for 6 months - a black and white cat that I came to love dearly - who was brought in as a stray in a snowstorm. His right eye was horribly infected and ruptured. He required emergency surgery. We performed an enucleation of that eye and kept him for 2 weeks during a past January to help him recover and gain body condition from being so sick. He was tested and was Feline Leukemia positive. No one would adopt him. After two weeks of caring for him... I decided to take him home and keep him separate from my own cats and give him the best life I could until the time came that life was no fun anymore for him. I had him for 6 months before that disease ravaged his body once more ..he was losing his other eye and his organs began shutting down as he couldn't no longer fight off the infection. and he died in my arms in the middle of the night before I could get to the clinic to ease his suffering and shorten his path home to Creator.

Know this.... Giving the gift of a safe home, tender care and all the love you can and do so that the last days/months of their lives were wonderful and they knew TLC and compassion and love was priceless. They taught us lessons as well too. How to live in the day, in the moment with all fibers of being that you are. Know this... nothing made of Creator every truly dies. We DO see them again. Sometimes here...sometimes when we go Home as well. One of the many things I did..was assist in helping their little souls cross over. I joined my mind/essence with theirs and gently pointed the way and let them know it was okay to go home..that we would be there to help their people cope with their loss. It was truly a calling and one that I was honored to have.

Love never dies... it only changes form.. that Love ? still exists...and you will feel it once again. Prayers, Light,Love and Hugs. Cherish those precious memories.

@moonbeam you are not a failure.  You gave her love, care, compassion and a family.  You are a beautiful light that embodies love.  The world needs much more of that.  Hugs to you friend.  Ease your mind with the fact that you provided what the world could not.  Peace.

She purred at the end.  You did the hardest thing, and the bravest thing. That little kitty needed you to help her die well and peacefully. I think you are a tremendous success! I hope you will see in time how much your kindness meant to your little kitty. And I keep thinking, she purred at the end. How beautiful.

So sorry, moonbeam. Big hugs to you. You were there for her and that's what matters. It's terribly hard and sad, I know. They all go to Heaven.
