After some research and speaking with the vet, Dasuquin Advanced has avocado and soybean which helps rebuild the cartilage rather than just relieving pain.

I misread the package and she only has to take one per day after the first month, so I'll just stick with the Dasuquin. She's worth it even if we had to give her twelve per day.

Journey, I forgot to answer your question. She's about 115 but the vet wants her to lose some weight. She likes her food and treats and we haven't been exercising her enough-it's been hard to be outside recently due to smoke so we have to start being more vigilant about making sure she gets run/walk time.

We have two little munchkins that the vet said had to go on diets. We cut down on the treats and it's made a big difference. We cut down their food a little. It's better for them - one has that collapsed trachea and the other has an extremely narrow trachea, so extra weight can affect that.

Ours are beggars! I can be opening a bag of veggies for dinner and they all come running. And if I'm eating cheese puffs, it's like I'm surrounded by wolves. Six sets of doggie eyeballs fixated on every movement.

We only have one overweight one, though. She's the only one who can't run off-leash because she takes off.

Our friend's cat Yet I got out last night and we are extremely worried, he has hip dysplasia and hops like a bunny. We spent hours looking for him. We hope he comes home because she is lost without her fur baby ?

Oh, I know what it's like having a lost pet!  Suggestions:  Put up signs in your neighborhood, put flyers in neighbors' mailboxes, check sheds and garages on your property and ask your neighbors to do the same (animals can sometimes get locked in) , put up notices in the lost and found on Craigslist and any neighborhood facebook pages or bulletin boards that exist.  Call vets and shelters.

We lost our kitty a couple years ago and found her after two days because of a flyer we had passed out.  She was hanging out on the patio of an Italian restaurant.  Someone said she probably just went out for some wine and cheese... LOL.    (Now she has a TabCat tracker on her collar.)

Here's another thing: If Yeti is microchipped, have your friend call the microchip company and make sure her contact information is up-to-date.

@Laynara make sure you put her litter pan outside maybe on the porch or sidewalk.  Cat's have a great sense of smell and she should recognize her own smell.  I hope she comes home soon and safe.

On a side note (Don't know where to post this, but I figured we needed some good news), I got some good personal news today.

As some of you know, I am dealing with the fact that my two "fur siblings" (two dogs that belong to my mother and my father) were both diagnosed with cancer.  Simon, my mom's baby, is almost 13 years old, and the tumor is too close to his heart.  They gave him two weeks to live (Note: it is now been 11 weeks since they told us that, and Simon is still with us!).

But even better news-Clarice, my dad's little girl, had surgery recently for her cancer.  We got the results back, and thankfully it didn't spread anywhere else.  Therefore, she won't need chemo or radiation.

Now, she is not out of the woods yet.  The type of cancer she had means that there is a 50% chance that she is totally cured, or 50% chance that it will return.  We will be taking her to the doctor every four months for the next two years to be sure, but Clarice is doing great right now and will have her stitches removed next Monday.

May the light that you guys sent for my fur siblings be reflected back to all of you, with 100% more brilliance.  While we know that we will ultimately lose Simon (as well as run the risk of possibly losing Clarice), we are much more optimistic and will continue to keep fighting and living each day to the fullest no matter what.  So when it looks like the world is going to (word I will not post here), remember not to give up.  We knew that it would feel dark right now, but we have traveled far enough that we can actually see the light at the end of our journey.  We have made it this far, and we will finish this!  So light for all!

Wonderful news, @allyn. My cat Holly was diagnosed with stomach cancer and only a few weeks to live, but she also lived for many more months before I had to decide to end her suffering, which by then was clear.

I hope you are spared such a decision and your furry Simon will just go to sleep one night and cross over peacefully. Sending love and light to you and your furries and keep hoping that Clarice will make it against all odds. ❤️

@polarberry   Just saw this.. so yeah.. a big baby! Her dose will be higher and thus more expensive.. I hope some of the less expensive but does the same job nutraceuticals are possible for her..They really do help.. and. I know it can be costly. My Doberman's dose was much more expensive that my little Pomeranian/Chihuahua/Rat terrier/Corgi mix's is. That is the difference between 89 pounds and 13 lbs.

@lovendures

Sorry guys, but the raccoons are there for a nefarious purpose.

THEY WORK FOR ME!!!!!

Seriously, how do you think I get my information?  They are my informants!  One got caught on camera, so he had to play dumb so as to not tip off the Trump administration!

Oh, and they don't need payment.  They aren't thrilled with Trump for pulling out of the Paris Agreement and his other attacks on the EPA and the environment.  Usually they don't get involved in trivial human matters, but even they recognize that Trump is a threat to their home.

And yes, the fly who was on Pence is one of my informants as well!  HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

(Just kidding!  But since we have had to deal with the nonsense coming from the mad tweeter high on mind-altering meds for the last few days and pretty much for the last four years, I figured a little wildlife humor was appropriate here.)

Also, even my joking nonsense is still more believable than pretty much anything that comes out of Trump's mouth.  ;)

Well since half of my original post on rabid raccoons disappeared I can only surmise I violated something and it created a problem - my apologies to all.  Basically the part that became missing listed symptoms of rabies in raccoons behaviorally. IE Difficulty walking, confusion, disorientation, making strange noises and looking ill and unkempt then onward to foaming at the mouth and snapping at the air as the progression of brain inflammation worsens to eventually cause death.

@ana I think this sounds similar to the behavior of the raccoons in your dream. Possibly signifying the inflammation in tRumps brain from covid-19 as well as his erratic behaviors and its effects on the staff there trying to deal with it.

Just one possible interpretation.

My family of origin family mascot is the raccoon. We think of them as ingenious, creative, resourceful, clean, and fun.

sure some of my family over indulged and acted off, some went to California to try to be famous. Some became spies. Some were just smart and a few were smart asses. Raccoons have many motivations.
if they are causing problems someone  may have began than stopped feeding them. They don’t like feeling betrayed.

It wasn't a dream actually, it was real.  One of them tried to climb up a CNN reporter's leg.  I don't think they are rabid but from the videos, they sure have no fear of humans whatsover. https://www.cnn.com/videos/media/2020/10/07/cnn-reporter-raccoon-joe-johns-white-house-live-shot-moos-vpx.cnn

Still even real raccoons could be mirroring the insanity in the White House...

I think raccoons are cute and resourceful and fun but clean ??... well  not in my experience. They pooped in our little garden fountain and above-ground pool.  And one time they had a little family going in our attic and when they departed left a horde of voracious fleas which invaded the house. I would be happy to have them around but for those things.  I used to love seeing them troop through the yard but not anymore, sadly.

Hallucinations Seen as Another Troubling COVID-19 Symptom

Of course...how do we tell if it's a Covid hallucination or just the normal workings of the Orange One's mind? ?

(This is not meant to treat this actually very serious issue lightly, but sometimes the jokes write themselves...)

People have asked me in the past about running agility with my mixed breed rescue, Ellie. Who needs a purebred? Ellie is one of the fasted dogs I've seen and one of the smartest. My devoted shadow.
