  • I see bows and arrows after the election. I see you can’t keep the people down.   But the bows and arrows are concerning. I see white (skin color) arms in what looks like a brawl, and a lot of yelling and fighting during the elections among angry, white, bulldog-like men. (Jeanne Mayell)

  • Senate: McConnell, disappointed. McCarthy – grim faced. Kamala is smiling. AOC is happy. Many women elected, more people of color. (Jeanne Mayell)
  • Women figure prominently in election. (Deetoo)

  • The House and Senate look purple. Nancy Pelosi seems to be in charge still.  (Bright Opal)

U.S. — Politics

  • Still wondering about the Senate races. I ask to see how McConnell is doing and I get that he’s working on it. He’s not sure he can smile yet. But Dem’s reaction to the Senate races is
    “Thank god.” (Jeanne Mayell)
  • Continued fighting over the election results. I am anxious about this.  T is raging. Biden says, Enough is enough!” He’s pissed about these insurrectionists. (Jeanne Mayell)

  • Icicles in Texas. Another cold spell for Texas and the Southwest. (Avon)

How will we be doing with Covid Spring 2022 & Beyond?

  • It’s better, more are vaccinated, we are not dealing with a new variant. There is some booster we can get at that point.  I am not wearing a mask into my health club in May 2023, but I prefer outdoor activity and I don’t want close indoor gatherings. (Jeanne Mayell)
  • People in poorer countries have not been fully vaccinated. They are still struggling. (Baba)
  • The wealthier countries are learning to live with mild Covid and are resuming normal activities. They aren’t the same as before the pandemic, but people are free to move around and meet up. (Baba)
  • Much of the country is faring well after the delta variant wave. The states with the most unvaccinated are still dealing with cases.  The rest of the country is getting back to normal.  All vaccinated people get boosters and booster vaccines will be part of normal life.  (Bluebelle)
  • The unvaccinated are still suffering, but our nation’s overall percentage of vaccinated is now higher. Covid is just like the flu. By now the nation and world are preparing for another round of covid boosters. There is more travel and masks are still being worn. (TonyaW)
  • Growing acceptance that yearly Covid vaccines are here to stay. It’s part of our new normal.  (Deetoo)
  • March 2023: Covid is less.  Boosters are helping.  Vaccinations are needed for certain things. (Lovendures)
  • I see spikes here and there on the planet like lightning strikes. (Doris)
  • I hear a hum representing the virus, but it is becoming less prominent in certain places. Some counties are controlling it better than others and some parts of those countries are better than others. This virus is very opportunistic in nature if given an opening to spread. (Doris)
  • I see new vaccines and more improved vaccines coming out to deal with the virus. Science is tweaking them as it progresses. (Doris)
  • I see pills helping with the virus and young children getting vaccinated. (Doris)
  • For Spring, 2022 I saw a clear difference between vaccinated people getting sick like the flu and unvaccinated getting much sicker/dying. Some holdouts get vaccinated secretly so as not to lose face among their die-hard peers. New Covid variants spring up around the world and cause regional outbreaks. (Serpens)
  • Due to more people getting vaccinated, not as many are sick with Covid, but others who refuse the vaccine are still dying. We will still be wearing masks indoors in the near future for all flu-related illnesses, especially in the winter. (Kathleen)
  • People are getting third shots. Masks are still worn to an extent. I sense I am still doing a lot on Zoom. Scientists feel like they need to do more research. They need a better shot that lasts longer than a handful of months. (AK)
  • Covid is like the common cold. We can mitigate it and avoid it. Common cold and covid vaccine out shortly. (TeriZ)
  • Covid has stabilized in the US – we treat it like the flu with annual boosters. (Avon)
  • The R.1 variant will be like the flu. (Enkasongwriter)
  • COVID will be a continuing viral threat like the flu worldwide. However, vaccine development will keep pace with evolving COVID variants. (Howard)
  • The United States is still fighting Covid-19 and the Flu. (Siobhan)
  • Covid is bad in some places but better in others. See hope in the US. Some countries need help. Brazil in the news regarding Covid, not good. African nations not doing well either. (TriciaCT)
  • Covid-19 is in central Africa now. There is not enough Covid-19 vaccine to vaccinate the population. (Siobhan)
  • There is still much sickness in the world from Covid-19. (Siobhan)
  • Undeveloped countries struggle with COVID but will be receiving increasing amounts of vaccine and help. (Howard)
  • In India COVID is on the rise again. (Howard)
  • In China COVID is on the rise again, although the CCP tries to keep it secret. (Howard)
  • I see tent hospitals. (Siobhan)
  • COVID is more chronic but controlled. (CC21)

  • People will be taking health and safety protocols seriously. (Enkasongwriter)
  • Masks become popular. (Enkasongwriter)
  • Social distancing will be everywhere. (Enkasongwriter)
  • The total COVID deaths in the US will be about 700,000 in the end. (Enkasongwriter)
  • In the developed western world COVID is in decline and much more under control. (Howard)

COVID petering out. Herd immunity is close to being achieved between vaccination and actual infections. A lot of people hit by it along the way. I feel like I can breathe easier. I see a slow gradual decline, slowly winding down. It looks like glowing red/black coals. It is still hot, still dangerous. (Karen C)

A Retrospective:  Looking Back at Early 2020s from Mid-Century

  • Covid, lesson learned. So many law changes to prevent, including no more labs being allowed to coax viruses to jump from animals to humans. Laws changed to give more authority to public health officials for quarantines and mask wearing. Laws and regulations passed to allow for vaccine requirements. (Jeanne Mayell)
  • People will be amazed at how foolish the people of our time were as far as their behavior with regard to both climate change and Covid. It will be hard for them to imagine how it all could have happened, and they consider us both primitive and short-sighted. As a result of what is happening at present, society learns, adapts and does better. (Baba)
  • The cataclysmic events of 2016-2022 are still studied by historians and scientists. They are researching what went wrong and how to avoid the dysfunction of the early Covid pandemic.  Historians study the rise of far-right ideologies and the basis for that extremism.  (Bluebelle)
  • We needed to collapse so that we could rebuild better. There was no other way to get you all to listen. (TonyaW)
  • These were very turbulent times. Life changing, country changing, global changing times.  (Lovendures)
  • We finally began to realize we are more alike than different. Working for a common and greater good became an important way to act. We began putting others first and became more globally aware. (Lovendures)
  • We were tested and needed to grow and act differently. We had to get rid of our old ways, free ourselves from old unhealthy norms. (Lovendures)
  • Everything has changed, a new age formed. (Lovendures)
  • What we went through was an awakening and maturing as a species, like pains birthing a new order of thinking and being. A new paradigm for the human race and the planet was necessary if we were to survive and eventually thrive. This was no accident, regardless of how difficult and fearful these times were. The coming together of the many, realizing that we have more in common than our differences came directly from spirit. We had to go through these dark times to bring out into light what was no longer serving us. The old “guck” and inertia had to go. This rise of consciousness was for our greatest good. (Doris)
  • The 2020s forced us to become more loving and compassionate towards one another. We learned to value each person for their individual strengths and appreciate a simpler and wholistic lifestyle. We turned inward and appreciated our spiritual nature instead of material benefits. Families and leisure time became very important to us. (Uneke)
  • 2020 was the beginning of a new world order — the year it all changed. Things hidden or denied began to come out and HAD to be dealt with. It will be considered a difficult, dangerous, but interesting time which will resonate well into the future (like WWII was, for example). America becomes less dominant. Lots of international coalitions for various global goals (disease, climate, economic) begin in the 2020’s and accomplished much good. (Serpens)
  • A major social dysfunction happened between 2001-2023 due to fears of “the other” which led to extremism and deep distrust of the government. The dysfunction was global, but deeply destructive in the US due to the Trump cult. (Kathleen)
  • The future refers to this time period as The Great Collapse and Rebuild. (AK)
  • Decisions made this decade are important and will affect the world. (AK)
  • I am in a future classroom. The classroom size is smaller than today’s classroom, and the land it is on is surrounded by water which makes me think that climate change has caused the sea levels to rise. I feel a deep sorrow and sadness about this like having one’s heartbroken. (AK)
  • We are much more global society. A kinder, gentler world. Service, teaching, and medical services receive more pay and higher regard. Being rich and affluent is no longer held in such high esteem. Being kind, thoughtful, and of service to others, those are the rockstars. Living is more than making a living. (TeriZ)
  • Climate: Covid and climate change have made us see how great our actions have been, how much we destroyed our homes by cutting down nature. We did that. We did Covid too. We nearly ended our existence by experimenting and being careless and disconnected. We didn’t know that every action we take affects something around us and that this will come around the corner and hit us between the eyes. So, we have to care and learn to care for our environment which is our home. (Clara)
  • Covid: Covid has shown, and our future response to climate change, shows us how the majority move towards health and harmony, to survive together with all species around us. We realize that we cannot be aggressive. To survive we have to be kind to ourselves and our environment. Covid and climate change response have taught us to care. (Clara)
  • Learning lessons about pandemics and weather. Harsh realities and lessons learned. We will not repeat the failures. Fail safes. Mandatory Vaccines. (TriciaCT)
  • Climate change laws are passed help mitigate climate devastation; many lessons learned; many were too late. (TriciaCT)
  • People will look back at the political corruption in the United States during the 2020s. They will see the corruption stemming from greed and the media to hold power. Corruption is blamed for the Covid-19 and climate crisis. (Siobhan)
  • How angry and naïve we were! (CC21)
  • We have learned and grown so much. It is hard to believe we wasted so much energy on conflict and damaging the earth. We know better now and are doing better. (CC21)
  • The early twenties will be viewed as a “before-and-after” moment, similar to 9/11. There is a definitive pre- and post-2020, changes we never get back. There are life lessons we have learned on how careless and disconnected we were with our lives and our planet. (Avon)
  • We couldn’t see the obvious. We focused on the wrong issues. Whatever we were not thinking about turned out to be a bigger issue than what we were thinking about. Something other than climate change was a big issue. While there were real problems associated with climate change, we were able to deal with them. We also became more able to distinguish between the real problems associated with climate change and what people fixated on as a substitute for religion. (Eva)
  • Green energy has caught on.Vaccines will become more important. People are celebrating a milestone. Living within one’s means is good.Appreciating others will be the way forward. Mid-century is a very different world from 2021. China controls a 3rd of the world’s population. (Howard)
  • America has regained its place and standing in the world, from which it lost in the 2020s and 2030s. America has 52 states and has returned to its original blueprint as a melting pot, equal opportunity, and example to the world for all people to live together. (Howard)
  • The American south is more tropical. Greater parts of Canada and maybe Alaska are opening up due to a more temperate climate and increased population growth.Fossil fuels are not used to any great extent. The green revolution has become very successful and spread around the world. (Howard)
  • This was an era of being isolated and self absorbed. People needed to learn to care about each other and the environment. It was the beginning of the Great Awakening. We need to work together, care for each other in order to survive. (Karen C)
